Olympic Reminder

If you click on the above image in my sidebar, it will take you right to a most informative page that tells you all you need to know about all the events. Please check it out.
Hi my sweet pals, Sashy here with an Olympic reminder. My event in the Blogville Olympic Games is Boxing. I would love for you to participate with me. I have decorated my favorite box with an American Flag and the Olympic colors. I hope you like it.
I am so proud to be a part of this and I can't wait for the games to begin.
I want to suggest to you that you be creative in your boxing. I am just giving you suggestions but please use your imagination. If you are a Boxer as some of our pals are then please show me some boxing. I see boxing one way and you might see it another way and please show me. I can't wait to see your entries. Let the games begin!!! Now I can't stress the deadlines enough so I am going to show you this again and have a great weekend.

THE OLYMPIC Committe MUST INSIST that All ATHLETES be ENTERED by Midnight July 18th.  in order for the athlete to be SCREENED fur Bugs.       The Peep Athletes have to be Screened fur DRUGS... butt WE of Blogville are above that!    However, we gotta be sure that no Fleas get in...          Complain to FRANKIE if you don't like the deadline.

Snacks for the Olympic Pawties

Hi my pals. I have been thinking a lot about the upcoming Olympics here in Blogsville. I was thinking wow, we will be celebrating together and what can I bring to the after parties?? I mean I am stumped, I do enjoy cooking but I have never cooked for a crowd, especially one that will include, dogs, cats, horses, crabs, and any other group that might join in. MY PLATE IS EMPTY!

No worries my pals, Mommy to the rescue. She will be providing us with unlimited cheeto crusted, beer battered fried squirrel with cheesy beer sauce for dipping. Now I know what you are thinking"I am allergic to squirrel" well no problem, this recipe can be adapted for possum, ground hog, mice, rats, etc.
Some of you(Puddles) are adept(Puddles) at catching your own meat. We use traps and have the meat butchered elsewhere. Mommy is not into that part of it. Kudos to the hunters and huntresses though.

Cut the meat into nice bite sized pieces and marinate overnight in beer.

This is very important, NEVER  use hot oil without human supervision. I can't stress this enough. Please let them do that part.
Put a large amount of cheetos in a food processor and get them nice and fine. Try not to eat too many as you will run out of coating later.
The next morning after a night of beer marinade you are ready to go. Drop the meat into the crushed cheetos and fry golden brown. AGAIN DO NOT FRY WITHOUT HUMAN SNOOPERVISION.  You can at this point consume some of  the beer from the marinade. Don't let it go to waste. Take the rest of the beer and mix it in a blender with a soft cheese, such as cheese whiz. Warm it slightly and it makes a delicious dipping sauce. Consume the remaining beer.
Here is the finished product. Mommy likes to add some fresh vegetable for a pleasing plate. Next, enjoy!

Mommy is preparing lots of this for our celebration pawties. I hope you found this usefull. Now back to training for me, "I can't seem to get just the right pattern with my noseprint..."

p.s. if anyone has any extra squirrel or other meat, please let me know.

Dusty's Competition

Hi my pals, One of my very favorite things about blogging is meeting new pals. I recently met Dusty through  a couple other pals blogs.  Dusty @ LIFE WITH MY DOGS is having a cool contest to celebrate his first birthday. I mean how pawsome is that???

All you have to do is make a post with my Mommies or my favorite picture of me. The closing date is June 27th and then Dusty's Mom will post all the pictures and we can vote. The votes must be in by July 25th cause Dusty's first  birthday is July 27th and thats when the winner will be announced. The winner will receive a hand drawn picture of the entry in either pastel or graphite.

Here is my entry. Mommy loves this picture cause I just got a haircut and I am posing so nice for her. I hope you like it too.
Have a great day my pals and go visit Dusty please.

My New Pal Smoky Joe

Hi my Pals! Today I am dedicating my blog to a new friend, his name is Smokey Joe and is a labradoodle. My Sisters, Boyfriends Family rescued him on Daddy's Day. Isn't that cool? They had a  sweet doggy that passed away a few months ago and they were ready for a new one.

Smokey Joe was on Petfinder, which is where my family found me. Smokey had been up for adoption for so long that he was soon going back to a shelter. The shelter he was going to was the kind that does that thing we don't like to think about to pets that don't get adopted. Smokey Joe is fine now and he has signs of abuse, some scars and he is bone skinny, but he is a lovey guy and is settling in very well with his new family

I can tell you from personal experience that Boyfriend and his Family are really good and kind pet owners. Smokey is a lucky boy.  He doesn't like other pets so far and is afraid of himself in the mirror and he doesn't like squeaky toys, cause they scare him. He is hungry all the time and will even resort to stealing foodables, but he needs to gain weight so they make sure he is well fed.
Boyfriend was told that poor Smokey was left chained up in a yard all day with very little contact of any kind. I bet he never even had a toy before. He loves to go for walks and he even likes baths(yuck) and he like rawhide chews.

I haven't met him yet cause he needs to get used to his family and so far he barks and growls at other doggies. I know he will be fine and I am proud to introduce him to all of you. Welcome to a furever home full of loveys Smokey Joe.

On that note Mommy and I are asking you to take time to read this and sign it . I know it is a very sad issue, but if a pet has to go the Rainbow Bridge, they shouldn't have to suffer so much first. If you click on "Take Action Now" it should take you to another page.  Thank you from me and Mommy.

Dear Michigan Advocates,

Please join the ASPCA in supporting Michigan Senate Bills 423 and 424 to outlaw the use of gas chambers to kill companion animals. The bills are nicknamed “Grant’s Bills” after a friendly dog who died in a Michigan animal control shelter’s gas chamber.

Euthanizing animals by gas chamber is an inhumane, prolonged process that can take up to 45 minutes. Many animals panic during the procedure, and first attempts occasionally are unsuccessful.

If no homes can be found for certain pets housed in Michigan’s animal shelters, they at the very least deserve their final hours to be free from pain and stress. A direct injection of the drug sodium pentobarbital by a trained professional is painless, takes effect within seconds, and is accepted by all national veterinary and humane organizations as the most humane method currently available for ending an animal’s life.

Michigan’s shelter animals should be entitled to the same level of humane, end-of-life care your pet would receive. Please tell your state senator to help pass Grant’s Bills to ban gas chambers statewide and make lethal injection the only legal method of euthanizing animals in shelters.

What You Can Do
Please visit the ASPCA Advocacy Center online to email your state senator in Lansing and urge him/her to support and pass Grant’s Bills!

Thank you for your help, Michigan.

Boxing Day

Hi my Palarifics! I hope you all had a fun weekend. We had a blast celebrating my Daddy and today I needed to rest. I have my strength back and its time to do some more training for the Olympics. Please don't forget about all the wonderful events and especially the deadlines.

Today is International Boxing Day. How cool is that?? A special day set aside just for my Olympic event. How many of you can say that??? What Mommy??"Sasha, this day is not  for your boxing event." What? I apologize this is an International event that has nothing to do with my Olympic event, but I can use it to give you some suggestions so that you all can practice your boxing. For more information on International Boxing Day please visit  Zoolatry
The Chronicle of Woos

Here is an example of a small box. I use this one to hide treats around the house, just in case I have been sassy and Mommy says" no treats for you Missy". There is a pupperoni in there for later(giggles). Shhhh.
This box came with some chinese food that my family ordered and boy does it smell good.
Now you can dress it up a bit and make it more comfy with a favorite blanket or knick knack.
Its important to get it all the way in there...pushing pushing...ouch...nose burn.
There, something like this might be good. It makes a statement and yet its very inviting.
For a finishing touch I like to put another favorite blanket over the top and give it a little mystery and also providing privacy, when you have one of those itches, you know where.
Well this is just a small example of boxing for the 2012 Blogland Olympics. Please feel free to interpret this event in your own way. If you happen to be a Boxer Dog, please show me your craft, if you like. Boxing is a very free form event and I want all species to be able to participate from the smallest crab to the biggest horse. Please join in the Olympic Spirit with all the events and don't forget about Boxing.

Happy Daddy's Day

Hi my Palaroonis! I am taking a break from Olympic festivities to celebrate my Daddy. This is Daddy's Day Weekend and I have the best Daddy in the world. We got off to a rocky start, well cause, I kind of bit him pretty bad. For a while he was mad, but it didn't take long and now we are the greatest of pals. He loves me and I love him.

Here we are celebrating his birthday together. I gave him a chew bone and pupperoni, which he shared with me. Isn't that the sweetest thing to do?
Here we are playing a little game. I don't know exactly what he was doing, but I have to humor him and play along. Sometimes you gotta do that with the Peeps. Those kooks can be a handful but we love them anyway.

Here is what we like doing best. We just sit and snuggle and watch a movie or some sports. We nap together, we dream together and we take care of each other.

It was 3 years ago this October that my Daddy had to go to a hospital in Wisconsin where they gave him 2 new kidneys. We live in Michigan so Mommy told me it was a very nervous drive over there. He was sick for a long time before that and had to go to a place every other day so they could fix his blood. Now he doesn't have to do that and his new kidneys are working real good.

He is my hero for going through all that and never giving up.

 My Daddy is the best!!!!

Happy Daddy's Day to all the Daddies in blogland

Health tips from Sasha

Hi my pals, I am taking a little break from my Olympic workout schedule to share some information with you. We all need to take good care of ourselves always, but especially now with the Olympic Games just around the corner.

Now I know we all (Puddles) have a different idea of what might be a healthy training diet for example:

Today I am going to suggest something that I think most of us are very fond of.

Wallymelon which FYI was first grown in Egypt

It has a high water content( this is good to keep us hydrated)

It has a good source of Vitamins A and C and Vitamin B which produces energy for the body(very important right now).

It also has potassium which helps control your blood pressure and other stuff, this might be good for some of us that get overly excited for the events.

Most importantly it is sooooooooooooo yummy. Please take good care of yourselves and eat lots of wallymelon.
I also wanted to tell you in case you haven't seen it yet that there is a very cool newspaper now just for us,
"The Blogville Chronicle" put out by  Ruthie @
K-9 Katastrophie or     @ The Blogville Chronicle

Please do yourself a favor and go check it out. Now back to work for me. Take care my pals and keep the Olympic spirit alive!!

Olympic News!!

OMD and BOL my pals, I am so filled with excitement that I am tinkling right now(ooops sorry Mom). The Olympics are moving forward and the plans are going so well. Of course Mayor Frankie, Ernie and Sarge have been working so hard that I bet they are going to need back rubs, paw rubs and maybe even a beer  to relieve them soon.

As you can see below, boxes are great for getting pressies in, but this is just the tip of the squirrels nose and I don't want to overwhelm you right away so I am going to start here and will continue to give you suggestions often.
