I have some good advice for all of you

Hi my pals. When I had my recent trip(nightmare) to see the Vet Lady, Mom found this article. Some of you may already know about this. You can never be too careful with us pets. The Vet Lady said it would be ok to give me a baby aspirin(81mg) if I needed cause my paw was infected.
"Tylenol and Your Pets
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tylenol (acetaminophen) is a pain killer and anti-fever medication commonly taken by people for minor aches and pains, fever, and soreness from arthritis. It is also a common ingredient in many children’s cough and flu medications. Because it is so regularly used in humans, most people believe that it is safe for their pet. This is incorrect.
Tylenol is extremely toxic in cats, and can be toxic to dogs as well. Cats are more frequently affected because they lack an enzyme pathway that functions to metabolize the drug properly. As little as ½ tablet of Tylenol can be fatal in cats, and although a higher dose is usually required to be toxic to dogs, many can get severely ill with a low dose. Tylenol causes damage to the liver as well as to the blood cells in both species, and clinical signs can include depression, rapid breathing, dark colored gums, swelling of the face, paws, and limbs, vomiting, drooling and death.
The safest way to avoid potential fatal reactions from Tylenol is to NEVER give it to your pet, even in very small amounts. Keep all bottles of Tylenol or other acetaminophen containing products in a securely closed cupboard or medicine cabinet to avoid spillage. If you think your pet is in pain, contact your veterinarian before giving any pain medications at home. It could save your pets life! "
Here are some people foods that we should not eat:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grapes and raisins
Contain an unknown toxin, which can damage the kidneys. There have been no problems associated with grape seed extract.

Onions and garlic (raw, cooked, or powder)
Contain sulfoxides and disulfides, which can damage red blood cells and cause
anemia. Cats are more susceptible than dogs. Garlic is less toxic than onions.

Xylitol (artificial sweetener)
Can cause liver failure.

Mushrooms
Can contain toxins, which may affect multiple systems in the body, cause shock, and result in death.

Macadamia nuts
Contain an unknown toxin, which can affect the digestive and nervous systems and muscle.

Chocolate, coffee, tea, and other caffeine
Contain caffeine, theobromine, or theophylline, which can be toxic and affect the heart and nervous systems.

With the holidays coming, we need to be careful and try not to get into some of the people foods that could make us sick. Cheese however, seems to be just fine, thank you very much.
Be safe and lets stay healthy!

Pet Pride

Please visit Bozo at Pet pride for pictures of pets and pals all over the place.
I am feeling a little dazed here after my Vet Lady ordeal, but even still I agreed to pose for a photo. Well Mommy was holding a piece of cheese out, so that was my focal point.

After my horrible haircut experience, they had the nerve to put a shirt on me. Even though I wasn't feeling well, it only took me 2 minutes to work my way out of it when I got home. Here I am half way off. If you roll around I find it slips right off. licks and sniffs, Sasha

Sashy's Health News

Hello to all of my pals. I found this article, well Mommy did actually from the ASPCA and we thought you might find it interesting. I can't stand to think of any of my friends getting sick, but especially to get the piggy sickness. I don't even want to know what would happen. There is a line that Mommy bigified. It says that humans can give it to pigs! Isn't that crazy, I thought they were giving it to us. It turns out we shouldn't be blaming our piggy friends(if you have any) cause it turns out they didn't really make us sick. I hope you all stay healthy.

"1. Can Cats and Dogs Catch Swine Flu?

Pet parents of dogs and cats can relax for now, say ASPCA veterinarians. While the 2009 H1N1 virus—a faster moving and possibly more debilitating strain of influenza than the typical seasonal flu—has become an international concern, the virus, referred to as swine flu when first identified, appears to present little risk of infecting dogs and cats. However, viruses can mutate quickly and taking important preventative measures remains essential.
“Many species can become infected with influenza viruses, but the current 2009 H1N1 virus, which is a mixture of genetic material from different species, has not been identified in animal populations in the United States to date,” says Dr. Miranda Spindel, Director of ASPCA Veterinary Outreach. “These viruses are notoriously unpredictable, though, and it is important that we remain vigilant.”
In terms of other animals who are susceptible, Dr. Spindel warns that influenza or flu viruses are occasionally transmitted from people to pigs, and the 2009 H1N1 virus has also been identified in turkeys. Pet parents of Vietnamese Potbellies, African Pygmies and other pet pigs should monitor their animals' health closely, notify their veterinarian of any signs of illness and speak to their veterinarian about influenza type A vaccines. And ferrets are susceptible to most human flu viruses, so pet parents should take extra care to prevent exposure of pet ferrets to people or other ferrets with flu symptoms.
Meanwhile, flu season is upon us and pet parents should take common-sense preventative measures to keep their dogs and cats healthy:
If your dog is exhibiting flu-like symptoms, including coughing, nasal discharge or fever (normal dog and cat temperature is 101 to 102.5 degrees), play it safe and avoid taking him to places like dog parks, where he can pass on germs or come into contact with unvaccinated or sick dogs.
Avoid letting your cat roam freely outside.
If your dog comes into frequent contact with other dogs or is kept in a kennel, the ASPCA recommends that you discuss with your veterinarian whether vaccination against canine influenza may be appropriate. Note: canine influenza and H1N1 are not the same virus.
Talk to your vet about what flu vaccines are currently available, and be sure all your pets get vaccinated!
Don't let your pet share water bowls, food dishes or toys with other animals.
Make sure your pet is eating, drinking and playing as he normally does each day. If you notice your pet behaving unusually, or if he has flu-like symptoms, check in with your veterinarian immediately.

I love cherry pie! Pet Pride

Please visit Bozo at Pet pride for lots more fun animals to see. Mommy and big Sis made pies this weekend!! I love cherry pie, well I love all pies I guess, but since they made cherry right now I love cherry pie. Here I am almost in shock in anticipation of the treat ahead. "Is this really all for me Mommy?"

Please excuse my manners here. I can't control myself as I savor this treat. Yummy, oh its delicious. I don't even care that the flashy beast is recording my gluttony.

I must come up for air and to lick the crumbs off my face. I am going so fast that the flashy beast can't even keep up with me. Seriously my friends you must try this.

Sasha 1---Pie 0 When it comes to pie, don't mess with the Sasha!

Please visit Camera Critters at Camera Critters Meme for lots more great pictures.
I caved in on the protest and they gave me water and yes a little piece of hard bread. I will have to think of something else to keep me busy.

Tweedles and I want to tell you about a very, very cool and fun blog that we visit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our friends name is Jan and she has one pet blog Animal Talk where she shares great stories about her horse Tango and lots of great rescue stories. Jan is a children's author and also has a writing blog calledJan Mader Ignite To Write . Every time we visit there are really fun writing games that anyone or anypet can play along with. A little while back she played a game that we would like to play with my pet friends with Jan's permission. Please go to Jan's page to check out our first storyhttp://ignitetowrite.blogspot.com/2009/07/lets-write-story-together.html.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How the game works is I will start the first line of the story and in your comments you help write the story. It can be a line or just a few words that will help the next commentor to keep the story going. I am going to leave it up until Wednesday. Please come back as often as you can to check on the story and add more to it. Make the story funny or silly or whatever you want and we will keep it going. After Wednesday I will type it up and with Jan and Tweedles we will give it a finish and then put up the whole story all together in a new post. This is gonna be so fun you guys and it will help me take my mind off of the awful disruption in my house. Please, please play along. I am so excited I am spinning in circles...getting dizzy...ok must lay down for a moment.

Ok here goes: The day began like any other day, a nice early walk outside with my Dad, heading toward my favorite spots...

Ok now its your turn, keep the story going. Have fun and come back and check on it and add more to the story. It will be so fun and maybe someday we will all be famous and live in Disneyland with Pluto and eat steaks and play and never get baths.

I am playing tag with Mango!!

Yahoo, Mango said I am tagged. Run around, run around, BOL, BOL, you can't find me. Wait, I guess it is a different tag, it is just as well, if Mango found me, he might want to play that bitey face game and I never played that one before. Please go and visit Mango at
Mango's Great Adventures , it is a very fun, very cool blog. My Mom would love to give Mango a big squeezy hug.

1) open the folder that has your pet pics in it
2) choose one you haven't posted before
3) tell its story
4) tag 5 friends

Ok, here it is. I would never allow this to be shown before, but I am giving in. My Mom and sister bought me a Halloween costume with devil horns and tail! Me, can you believe it. The sweet angelic Sasha, a devil. Well let me tell you the devil in me came out that night! They were sorry, but I did get a lot of treats and people did kind of give me a lot of attention. Still!! A devil!

Is this the face of a devil?????? I think not, it is the face of a doggy that just got a haircut and was not happy about it!

I tag:

1.Mona & the Mommy Too!!

2. The Daily Oskar

3.We love Luna

4.THE BUMPASS HOUNDS (and Kitties)

SASHA LIKES MUSIC

My daughter is outside again today trying to sell some of her art at a sub division rummage sale. Yesterday, she cried all day. Today I tried closing the drapes over the front window and I have Simon and Garfunkel playing. She is very relaxed today, even sleeping for a while. I think she finds the music soothing or at least distracting because she is fine right now. I am going to try different types of music and see if maybe this will help me to brush her and even give her a bath. I know I am probably stretching here, but it is worth a try. Oh and Sashas favorite song? "At the Zoo" of course.
Sasha would like to ask you to please click on the animal link to the left. It is not anything that I get paid for at all. If you just click on the link and go to the site and click you will help to feed animals in shelters.
