I have some good advice for all of you

Hi my pals. When I had my recent trip(nightmare) to see the Vet Lady, Mom found this article. Some of you may already know about this. You can never be too careful with us pets. The Vet Lady said it would be ok to give me a baby aspirin(81mg) if I needed cause my paw was infected.
"Tylenol and Your Pets
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tylenol (acetaminophen) is a pain killer and anti-fever medication commonly taken by people for minor aches and pains, fever, and soreness from arthritis. It is also a common ingredient in many children’s cough and flu medications. Because it is so regularly used in humans, most people believe that it is safe for their pet. This is incorrect.
Tylenol is extremely toxic in cats, and can be toxic to dogs as well. Cats are more frequently affected because they lack an enzyme pathway that functions to metabolize the drug properly. As little as ½ tablet of Tylenol can be fatal in cats, and although a higher dose is usually required to be toxic to dogs, many can get severely ill with a low dose. Tylenol causes damage to the liver as well as to the blood cells in both species, and clinical signs can include depression, rapid breathing, dark colored gums, swelling of the face, paws, and limbs, vomiting, drooling and death.
The safest way to avoid potential fatal reactions from Tylenol is to NEVER give it to your pet, even in very small amounts. Keep all bottles of Tylenol or other acetaminophen containing products in a securely closed cupboard or medicine cabinet to avoid spillage. If you think your pet is in pain, contact your veterinarian before giving any pain medications at home. It could save your pets life! "
Here are some people foods that we should not eat:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grapes and raisins
Contain an unknown toxin, which can damage the kidneys. There have been no problems associated with grape seed extract.

Onions and garlic (raw, cooked, or powder)
Contain sulfoxides and disulfides, which can damage red blood cells and cause
anemia. Cats are more susceptible than dogs. Garlic is less toxic than onions.

Xylitol (artificial sweetener)
Can cause liver failure.

Mushrooms
Can contain toxins, which may affect multiple systems in the body, cause shock, and result in death.

Macadamia nuts
Contain an unknown toxin, which can affect the digestive and nervous systems and muscle.

Chocolate, coffee, tea, and other caffeine
Contain caffeine, theobromine, or theophylline, which can be toxic and affect the heart and nervous systems.

With the holidays coming, we need to be careful and try not to get into some of the people foods that could make us sick. Cheese however, seems to be just fine, thank you very much.
Be safe and lets stay healthy!

Camera Critters

Please visit Camera Critters Meme to see oodles of fun pictures of all kinds of animals doing all kinds of stuff. Hi my pals. I am feeling better today. I was pretty sick for a couple of days. The Vet Lady said it was a reaction to the shots and also the infection in my system. Well if the shots were gonna make me sick, why did she give em to me?? I don't know about that shot thing anymore. I am better and back to my old sassy self. Here I am feeling down still. Pay no attention to the back round. I am in a room that is being fixed up and changed and all that.
I am trying to gather enough strength to play with my favorite squeaky hot dog
.
After that I went back to sleep. For the rest of this post I am going to show you a nice walky I took with my Big Sis before the dreaded haircut and "shots". The first one is a picture of the house where the meanest dog alive lives. Her name is Bridget. I would have Big Sis take a picture of her, but I am afraid the camera would explode with her ugliness and melt and dissolve.

Ahhh a lovely morning walky.
Ok, back home. I need to go in and check on Mommy. I can't stand to be away from her for very long. She needs me.
Ok anytime now. My Mom is in there and more important my good girl treat awaits.
Thank you for all of your good wishes, I love you my pals.

I am freezing and naked and I am not feeling well tonight

Hi my pals, well I survived the Vet Lady just barely. Look what she did to me. I am naked, how embarrassing. I am also freezing and I just don't feel right tonight. Since I am also very tired I am adding a few jokes that my Uncle Dennis sent me. I hope they make you smile. Have a good weekend everydog and everyone.

Sasha has been a little under the weather since she got back from the Vet. She did get 2 shots and she has a little infection in the pads of her feet where some hair was matted. She is very quiet, but she is eating and drinking. I am hoping she will be back to normal tomorrow or I will call the Vet back. Please have some good thoughts for her. Thanks Anne

Sasha has some useless trivia for your Wednesday

Hi my pals, I have found my hiding spot, but I am laying low and acting all normal until tomorrow night. I thought we could have some fun, so I was surfing the web and found some useless trivia for you to share. I hope you like it. First here is my friend Ammo in his Halloween costume. Ammo was rescued from a bad home. He is a greyhound, shepherd and I dunno what else mix. He is a sweet boy and very lovey, but he kind of likes to eat the furniture at his house. He is wearing a prison costume for Halloween fun, his new family loves him very much and are very good to him. He has a very good forever home now.

Here I am on Halloween again, now on to the trivia.
On average, dogs have better eyesight than humans, although not as colorful.

The lifespan of a squirrel is about nine years.

Sharks and rays are the only animals known to man that don't get cancer. Scientists believe this has something to do with the fact that they don't have bones, but cartilage.

A group of twelve or more cows is called a flink.

You can tell the sex of a horse by its teeth. Most males have 40, females have 36.

Cats sleep up to eighteen hours a day, but never quite as deep as humans. Instead, they fall asleep quickly and wake up intermittently to check to see if their environment is still safe.

There are more than fifty different kinds of kangaroos

Skunks can accurately spray their smelly fluid as far as ten feet

The pet food company Ralston Purina recently introduced, from its subsidiary Purina Philippines, power chicken feed designed to help roosters build muscles for cockfighting, which is popular in many areas of the world.http://www.faqs.org/abstracts/Business-international/Purina-takes-on-United-Laboratories-to-pump-up-Manilas-battling-birds.html#ixzz0VyNgK3W4

Guinea pigs and rabbits can't sweat.

Cats often rub up against people and furniture to lay their scent and mark their territory. They do it this way, as opposed to the way dogs do it, because they have scent glands in their faces

So to sum it all up. We can outlive squirrels and see better than our peoples, but we can't drive since we don't do the color thing so well. If you have to work out do it with a rabbit or guinea pig and don't tiptoe past a sleeping cat cause they might wake up and rub their faces all over you. It is best to say away from a flink of cows(too big to play with) and skunks in general and I don't think I want to get close enough to a horse to count its teeth. It would be nice if they could figure out why sharks don't get cancer and there a lot of kangaroos out there. But the most important thing of all is DON'T BUY PURINA DOG FOOD, nobody should be encouraging cockfighting I don't care where you live! I hope you can impress your pals with this trivia Wednesday.

Sasha's Dog Hero of the Week

Hello my friends, I am going to do a weekly post on a pet hero. There are many pets that go above and beyond the call of duty every day to help the humans. Paws up to all the heroes out there.

Do you believe in canine guardian angels and the kindness of strangers? You just might after reading this story. Early one morning, Yolanda Segovia's neighbor, Stacey Savige, knocked on her door and asked her to temporarily take in a stray dog she had found. The scruffy terrier mix had no collar or microchip. Segovia eyed the pooch -- burrs sticking to his belly and mud caking his fur -- and reluctantly agreed to foster him for the day. An erstwhile hairdresser, Segovia hasn't worked since 2006. At 47, she is a survivor of breast cancer and cervical cancer. A divorced single mother of two, Segovia shares her Port Tampa, Florida home with her 10 year-old son Azaiah and 21 year-old son Christian. Her elder son has Down Syndrome; he cannot speak or bathe himself, and he has had heart surgery and a kidney transplant,
reports the St. Petersburg Times. Azaiah immediately took to the dog, whom he named RaeLee (pronounced "Riley"). Segovia and her sons bought the dog a collar, leash, ball and brown bed from the dollar store, and all that day, Azaiah played with the dog, laughing gleefully whenever RaeLee licked his face. "Don't fall in love with him," Segovia warned.Segovia and Savige made 4,000 FOUND flyers with the dog's picture, stuffed mailboxes and put an ad on Craigslist. When no one called, RaeLee stayed the night at the Segovias' house. His dog bed was placed in the living room, but when the boys climbed into their twin beds, RaeLee dragged his bed down the long hallway and bunked with the boys in their room.By Saturday -- four days later -- no one had called to claim RaeLee, and he was still living with the Segovias. The honey-colored terrier had started responding to his new name. He almost never barked, loved playing rambunctiously with Azaiah, and was tender with Christian.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One afternoon, the dog settled himself on the floor near Christian as he watched a "Barney" video in his room. Segovia was outside watering the plants when the placid moment was shattered by the sound of RaeLee crashing into the screen door and barking crazily. Alarmed, Segovia opened the door, only to have the dog race back through the house towards the boys' room. Segovia followed, screaming when she caught sight of her son. Christian was "slumped over, his body writhing in a seizure, blood streaming from his nose and mouth." RaeLee stood next to him yelping, but suddenly went quiet when Yolanda reached down to hold her son. "If he hadn't come to get me," Segovia said, "the neurologist said Christian would have choked on his own blood and died." The dog, she decided, was a keeper.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But the next day, Segovia and her sons were heartbroken when someone called to claim the dog they had come to love. Randy Cliff, 34, who lived six blocks away said he had been searching for his dog -- real name Odie -- for over a week. Odie had lived with Cliff, his wife, their four children and infant granddaughter. Savige cried, telling Cliff, "That dog saved my friend's son."When Cliff came to collect his dog, RaeLee a.k.a. Odie, leapt off the Segovias' porch and into his arms. Christian watched from a window. Azaiah stood on the porch watching the man hug the dog he knew as RaeLee. "We're going to miss you," he said, tearfully. Looking up, Cliff took in the scene -- Christian looking scared, Azaiah looking downtrodden -- and asked, "Is that your brother?" Azaiah nodded yes.With a sudden change of heart, Cliff put the dog back down. "Maybe Odie was supposed to find you," Cliff told a stunned and delighted Azaiah. "Maybe you should keep him."And that is how the kindness of strangers -- Savige for rescuing a lost dog, Segovia for taking him in, and Cliff for giving up his pet to a pair of brothers who needed the dog more -- brought RaeLee to live with Azaiah, Christian and their mother.
