Mommy used some very bad words. She said I need a" haircut." I heard her talking to the Vet lady and I know she used the word "shots". I don't remember what that is, but I know it makes me feel funny inside when I hear it, so it can't be good. On Friday, I am going for a nail trim, "shots" and a hair cut, or so she thinks(he-he). I have other plans. Shhhhhhhhhh. Don't worry I have found a good hiding place, I will be fine. What?" Oh no Mommy I am not on the puter right now, go back to watching cooking shows." I look just fine, don't I ??? Even kind of cute and precious???

Well if you agree please tell Mommy, maybe she will change her mind. PLEASE!! I know Bilbo is on my side.

Hello my friends, as you may know there have been lots of home changing things going on around here lately. Mom found the info below from the ASPCA and we both thought it would be good to pass it along. I don't normally eat glue myself, but I do sometimes chew on furniture and areas that may have glue, so we felt it was good for my pet friends to be informed. Hope you all have a nice Labor Day weekend and get lots of goodies and no tummy aches. Pet Poison Alert: Accidental Ingestion of Wood Glue on the Rise

Our country’s new-found thrift has lead many homeowners to save a penny by tackling do-it-yourself home improvement projects. But take care, pet parents—you may be exposing your furry friends to dangerous tools and tricks of the trade. Polyurethane glue, a water-resistant adhesive and favorite of woodworkers, is highly toxic if ingested by cats and dogs.
According to data from the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC), pet poisonings from wood glues—and other adhesives containing the substance diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI)—are on the rise. In the past 12 months, the APCC handled more than 170 cases of pets who ingested expanding glues. Of those incidents, the majority involved dogs and were evaluated at high or medium risk for developing severe, life-threatening problems.
Polyurethane glue—also known by brand names like Gorilla Glue and Elmer’s Pro-Bond—is prized for its ability to bond to wood. If eaten, however, the glue expands in the stomach’s warm, moist environment and forms a softball-sized lump. A dog who eats even a small amount of MDI-based adhesive can experience severe gastrointestinal problems resulting in blockages and requiring emergency surgery to remove the mass.
Pet parents should treat any expanding adhesive as a potential hazard, since the offending chemical MDI is not always listed on product labels. Like all toxic household products, wood glue should be stored in a secure cabinet to prevent your furry beloveds from coming into contact with it. If you suspect your pet has ingested polyurethane glue, please call your vet or the ASPCA’s 24-hour poison hotline at (888) 426-4435. A new haircut and what a day!!

My friends, the last 2 days have not been kind to your pal Sasha. Yesterday, Mom puts my leash on and of course I am all excited to go out. Wait, we are getting in the car, I have a bad feeling about this. Next stop the vet. I am nervous as always, not knowing what to expect, before I can even think they stuck something in my butt!! Oh the shame and Mom held me and let them do it. Then they take me into a torture chamber and trim my nails, I am howling and where is Mom? In the other room, thank you very much. Ok, I am back with Mom, but she and the vet are chattering to each other, Mom gives me a kiss and she leaves me there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here is where the story gets very dark for me. Brace yourselves please. The vet gets a sample of my pee-pee, you don't even want to know how she did that. After that they put a torture device over my tiny little sweet angelic face and they begin shaving my body. My hair is gone and there is nothing I can do about it. Finally it is done and soon Mom comes to get me. Everyone is oooing and aaaing me, I am too upset to enjoy that part. I go home and I did get some treats, but big deal, compared to the rest. Now I am trying to bury one of my treats for later and I get this thing stuck on my neck. I didn't want to go shopping today. This is too much for one puppy to handle. Mom and big sis got it off and I got a lecture from Mom, she said I could have been hurt with this stupid bag. Whatever! Afterwords, they both laughed at me. What a day! I am exhausted. Now here are the pictures and please don't laugh at me. Oh the shame of it all, I was trying to hide some treats from my family.

A note from Mom: Sasha has a UTI and is on medication. While I was at the vet with her, I asked the vet about grooming since Sasha has bit 2 groomers, it is hard for me to find one. Her wonderful vet said, "If you leave her here for a little bit, I will try to groom her". I was thrilled, since Sashys long hair was making her very hot. She said Sasha was actually pretty good(with muzzle on of course) and she managed to groom her, except when she got to the paws and ears, so those are long. She looks like a cocker spaniel lol. Sashy had a bad day but it was for the best.

Look what my friend Sugar at I need a Sugar fix gave me! Thank you Sugar. Please go and visit Sugar's cool blog. Sugar is such a cutie and has fun stories to share from her forever home. She was rescued and is in a home full of love now. We love Sugar and all of our friends.

I recently listed 7 things that you might not know about me for the award at the top, so I am going to just do the 2nd award. The rules for this one are: Name 7 things that make me awesome. Wow thats going to be fun.

1. I am a shih tzu and that is awesome.

2. I was rescued and had lived in 2 other homes before my forever home now.

3. I am my Mom's constant companion, whatever room she is in, I am there with her.

4. I am very protective of my family and bark at anyone who comes near them.

5. If my Mom goes out in that big riding car thing, I will lay by the door that she left from and stay there until she comes home.

6. I brush my own teeth everyday with a junior toothbrush, both sides up and down. If my Mom can ever figure out how to put a video on here, you can see.

7. I can pounce things like my toys just like Simba in The Lion King. I lean back with my back arched and leap forward attacking the unsuspecting toy ha-ha, take that you toy. My Mom has a video of this too but oh well.

I would like to pass this on, I tried to spread the love to different doggy bloggys than Sugar picked and different ones than I picked the last time. That way the love gets spread more and more.

I am going to visit my friend Ammo

This is my friend Ammo, he was rescued from a bad family and lives with my other kind of sister Nikki. Ammo is a youngster and loves to play. They haven't let me meet him yet because Ammo is kind of crazy wild but not mean. They are afraid he will get excited and hurt me somehow. He's very gentle but clumsy. He is a greyhound, german shepherd, weimaraner mix. A Greyshepaner.
My sister and I are having a disagreement, she thinks I need to be groomed first. I don't!

What is that, I said no, now lets get going, I want to play with my new friend. I said NO!

I have my paws crossed in defiance. I will not put up with this, I am the boss of this house.

P.S. This is how Sashy is every time we try to brush her, we have used many different types of brushes and many different methods. We are fairly certain she was punished by her first (evil) family, because she reacts so strongly to the brush/comb. The second she even sees one she starts to bark and gets upset. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Anne( don't tell Sasha I put this on here)

My Mom is so funny

My Mom has sent a letter to "he who's name we do not mention" ( the dog whisperer) Hahahahahaha that is so funny, like he would come here. Oh my sides are starting to hurt from laughing.

Wait a minute, he wouldn't actually come here would he?? Is this a trick to try to get me to behave?

I am going to have to be on my guard. No body gets in without my permission. Especially "he who's name we do not mention". I will let the pizza guy in but thats it!

Help My Mom is Reading About Dog Training

Ok so my Mom found a website about dog training and I heard her reading it to my sister and its not good. Apparently I have something called "small dog syndrome", is that a disease?? She also said that it is my families fault, did they give me a disease?? The story said that my family are not being something called "pack leaders" with me and that is why I am so sassy sometimes because they let me get away with too much. What is wrong with that?? I am supposed to be in charge right?? They actually said that because they let me think I am the "pack leader" is the reason I am so spoiled. Well duh!! Of course I am the leader of this house, I am the guardian of the family. So now is the really scary part, there is talk of my Mom taking me to some kind of class or something and trying to teach me about rules and who's in charge. This is all because she says she loves me very much but is tired of getting bit by me. I don't want to bite her, but how else do I let her know that I am in charge?? When will she finally learn that as long as I get my way everything is cool. Oh well maybe I will get treats at the class and make some new friends and by the end of it maybe I will have my Mom and family trained for good. Wish me luck my friends. Sasha

Sasha is playing tag with MzzLily and Sadie

MzzLily and I bet Sadie too over at essays & utter nonsense have asked me to play a game of tag. I don't really get how to play so Mom is going to help me. I would rather play with Sadie but this is ok too. Thank you MzzLily for tagging us. Here is what she has to do:

3. Post the photo along with the story behind it
4. Tag 5 of our friends to do the same thing

Because this is my blog, I told Mom she has to pick my doggy friends to play tag with. I am confused about the whole tag thing, I thought it was a game but I don't exactly get to touch any other dogs do I? I will touch them through my blog to their hearts with love from Sasha.

Ginger was very old and she went to heaven last year. She was a nice friend and even though she was pretty old, she kept up with me pretty good. The picture isn't the best of her, but as you can see we were also playing some kind of tag game and she was about to tag me I think. She jumped up in the air, but I got away just in time, being the younger and quicker dog. I let her think she won though and then we shared a treat and a drink. To Ginger, run and be free now. Dog Pack Attacks Croc In Northern ProvinceAt times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and even a certain justice manifested within that cruelty. The crocodile, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally considered the 'apex predator', can still fall victim to implemented 'team work' strategy, made possible due to the tight knit social structure and 'survival of the pack mentality' bred into the canines. See the remarkable photograph below courtesy of Nature Magazine. Note that the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the croc preventing it from breathing, while another dog has a hold on the tail to keep it from thrashing. The third dog attacks the soft underbelly of the croc.

SASHA FOUND A NEW BED

I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME SPRING CLEANING AND ORGANIZING AND SASHA FOUND THIS BOX AND HAS MADE IT HER OWN. SHE LAYS IN IT, SOMETIMES SHE BRINGS IN A TOY AND PLAYS. I DON'T GET IT, I HAVE BLANKETS SPREAD OUT JUST FOR HER IN EVERY ROOM, BUT SHE PREFERS AN EMPTY CARDBOARD BOX. I HAVE TRIED PUTTING A BLANKET IN IT AND SHE PUSHES IT OUT. WHO KNOWS WHAT GOES ON IN THE MIND OF A SASHA GIRL? SHE IS MY LITTLE GOOF AND I WOULDN'T WANT HER ANY OTHER WAY.

ANOTHER GROOMING ATTEMPT

Sasha is upset with me today. I am trying to work with her on daily grooming once again. She does not like to be brushed. I have tried many different kinds of brushes and combs and she doesn't approve of any of them. I was working with holding a treat in one hand and the brush in the other to show her that good girl gets a treat if she lets me brush her. No luck, she kept attacking the brush and then coming over to the treat hand as if to say "ok hand it over I made the bad brush go away". I am going to keep trying. I have tried to brush her when she is laying by me and seems calm but nothing works. It is hard having a shih tzu with that beautiful hair and she won't let me brush it. If I don't it gets matted and makes a harder job for the groomer. I do love my sassy pup and I am going to keep trying.

SASHA AND HER FAVORITE SITTING POSE

We call this paw-foot-paw-foot. Sasha takes this pose very often and I think her poses mean different things. This one is deep in thought. "What can I get into next?" "If I sit here looking so adorable will they mind as much when I am sassy??" You can almost read her mind sometimes. Or at least we try lol. Sometimes it is the laying on the floor, pouting, look at me, how can you be mad at me pose. This one is my favorite of all, I have never seen a dog sit like this, although I am sure they do. Having a pet is a good thing, nothing seems quite so bad when she is around to comfort me. She makes us laugh and sometimes cry(lol), but always I look forward to her affection. Adopt a pet, you won't regret it!

TARGETING

I love to watch the shows on Animal Planet. Sometimes I do try some of the training tips on Sasha. One thing that is working is something they call "targeting". I have her sit and then put out my hand, palm towards her and call her name, when she touches my hand with her nose, she gets a treat. It sounds too simple I know, but I do it over and over(with just a small treat each time). She loves it of course because of the treat. Sasha does not come when called so this is what I am trying to get her to do. The other day Sasha got out without her leash, which is a nightmare usually. I put out my hand and called her name and she came!!!! I couldn't believe it. It actually worked, perhaps there is hope for my sassy girl. I didn't give her a treat but praised her and honestly since then she comes when any one of us puts out our hand and calls her. Now mind you this took me a couple of weeks of steady work with her, but I am so proud of her. One thing accomplished, now to work on going potty in the house, biting people, getting into trouble constantly, oh the list goes on. Another day for that lol.

WHAT THE HECK, I AM TRYING TO SHOW HER MY TOY AND SHE THROWS IT, THEN I HAVE TO GO GET IT AND I SHOW IT TO HER AGAIN AND GUESS WHAT SHE THROWS IT AGAIN. IT IS A NEVER ENDING CYCLE BUT IT SEEMS TO MAKE HER HAPPY SO I GO ALONG WITH IT. ANYWAY I HOPE MY DOG FRIENDS HAVE A FAVORITE TOY AND IF YOU CAN HUMOR YOUR MOMS BY CHASING IT. SASHA
