IT'S GIRLZ NIGHT OUT!!!!!!

I would like to start with a cheese tasting. My family is from Wisconsin so cheese is a very impawtant in our house.

 Help yourself to crackers to go with the cheese.

Here is a nice mild "ColbyJack", it is a combination of Colby and Monterey Jack cheeses. It is semi soft ,very mild. It melts very nicely so it goes very well with Mexican food. 

This is "Gouda", it is a Dutch cheese made from cows milk and named after a city in the Netherlands. It can also be pretty mild tasting. It goes well with beer or red wine.

 Now we have some "Swiss" cheese. There is a long and boring technical explanation of the holes. Basically, it is gas bubbles that form while it is getting ready to be eaten. It's made from cows milk so it's like little cow toots. The bigger the hole, the stronger it tastes. There are different kinds, "Baby Swiss'' is made from whole milk. "Lorraine" is made from low fat milk. It has a sweet and nutty flavor.

 I want to introduce you to a cheese that my Mommy loves. I am not a fan. It is called "Blue Cheese". The "blue" part comes from mold, yes I said it mold. It is stinky and yucky, but I thought I should try to show you all kinds of cheeses.

 "Ruby, don't eat too much, it might not agree...please get Ruby a bucket or something".

Lets move on.

 "Cheddar" cheese, it can be mild, medium, sharp or extra sharp. It is the second most popular cheese in the USA, behind mozzerella. 

 "Cheese Curds", this is a family favorite,
  It is also called "Squeaky Cheese" cause it squeaks when you chew it. 

Finally, I am going to end with America's favorite, mozzerella. What better way to taste it then on a pizza!!

I asked for requests and most of you wanted fruit and ice cream. It is so wonderful how sophisticated we are. What a lovely choice. The Boyz would have never thought of that. Thank you Girlz!!

I Was Tricked Again!!!

Hi my Pals, yesterday Mommy and I got up and for a surprise she said, "Lets go for a car ride".

Woohoooooo, she even let me sit in the drivers seat for a minute and pretend. Where could we be going???

Then I heard her say "Lets take a before picture". Ohhhhhhhhhh noooooooooooo, that can only mean one thing!!

Yes, it was Devillady Vetlady torture time. I got a check up and a shot, they drained blood out of me. I almost fainted, they put things in areas I don't want to talk about and then they cut my hair and nails.

"I am not gonna look at you Mommy"

Nope, not looking!!

Oy, what a day. I hope you all had a better day than me. I did get a good report from the Devillady Vetlady, so that is good anyway and they said I was a really good girl(I am not always a good girl at this place).

Food Safety For Kitty Pals by Chef Sasha

 Hi my Pals, I have been doing some research for my series on healthy foods to eat while training for the Mayorz Marathon. I found a very interesting article on food safety for our Kitty pals. I hope you will find it helpful.

As tempting as it might be, cats shouldn’t eat much human food.

 Foods that aren’t specifically formulated for cats really shouldn’t be fed to them,  and the list of foods that cats shouldn’t eat is seemingly random. Here are five foods you should avoid feeding your cat.

 Tuna

 It may make sense to open a can of tuna and feed it to the kitty (cats like fish, right?), but, in reality, even a small amount of canned tuna can upset a cat’s stomach. If fed to cats regularly, it can cause a painful condition called steatitis.

Dairy

While kittens need milk, and cats in cartoons often happily lap up a bowl of cream, most adult cats are lactose intolerant. Dairy products may cause diarrhea and vomiting.

Chocolate

 A compound called theobromine is found in all forms of chocolate and is most concentrated in dark chocolate. Ingesting it can result in muscle tremors, arrhythmia, or seizures. Cats also shouldn’t consume caffeine, which is present in chocolate: it can lead to restlessness, tremors, and palpitations.

Garlic and Onions

 A small amount of garlic or onion won’t cause damage, but if a cat consumes, say, a whole clove of garlic, then he or she may soon be suffering from some serious stomach issues. This applies to all members of the allium family, including onion, garlic, ramps, chives, scallions, shallots, and leeks.

Raw Fish

 Raw fish contains thiaminase, which breaks down into thiamine, an essential B vitamin that’s safe for humans but toxic to cats. It can cause convulsions and neurological problems.

First there was beer for dogs, and now there is wine for cats, straight out of Japan, naturally. Sankei Biz reports that pet company B&H Lifes has launched a wine specifically for cats, called "Nyan Nyan Nouveau."

Of course, the wine is non-alcoholic, and instead is made up of sugar, cabernet grape juice, vitamin C, and catnip. It isn't technically wine, but it's supposed to taste like it, Sankei Biz reports.

"Nyan nyan," Kotaku reports, can refer to the meowing sound cats make, while Nouveau is a hint at Beaujolais Nouveau, which is reportedly popular in Japan. The wines are selling for $4 (399 yen) a bottle, with only 1,000 bottles on sale. to  Now we just need a little vineyard catering to kitties, and both cats and dogs will have equally boozy possibilities.

Woohooo it sounds like a good plan to me!!

Preparation For Marathon Lesson #2 by Chef Sasha

Hi my Pals and I hope you are doing well with your marathon training. Here is Lesson # 2 in my series to help you keep strong during training.

First and I will say this to you each time, keep drinking fresh water. Do not let yourself go for too long without water.

3. Fresh Berries

Your legs can take a pounding from high-impact activities like running; soreness you feel after a hard run may be caused by micro-tears in the exercised muscles. That's why, in addition to their high fiber content, berries are a good option for runners: the vitamin C and potassium they contain help the body repair itself.

I read many articles on berries for cats and dogs and they all seemed to agree that berries are safe for pets. Please be careful how many you eat as they might cause stomach upset if you have too many. 

4. Yogurt

Low-Fat Yogurt

Running and other weight-bearing exercise can help you improve your bone density. But calcium is essential part of the equation, and many runners don't get enough. One cup of yogurt contains a third of your recommended daily intake of calcium. Plus, yogurt has protein — important for building muscle and recovering from tough workouts.

 Greek protein has been placed into the limelight, because it is said to contain more protein as opposed to regular yogurt. A cup of Greek yogurt has about two times more protein content than the other. If a cup of regular yogurt gives you around 10 protein grams, the least then that Greek yogurt gives you is 20 protein grams for the same yogurt quantity.

Banana Berry Yogurt Smoothie

6 oz greek yogurt

1 banana 

4 frozen strawberries

1/4 cup cold water

4 ice cubes

Place all in a blender and mix until smooth and yummy in your tummy!

 Once again, if my sweet BFF Ruby suggests adding anything extra(if you know what I mean) to the smoothie, do this after your workout. I don't suggest running after Ruby fixes you a "RubySmoothie". They are delicious, but you won't get much done.

Keep Hydrated During Marathon Training

Hi my Pals as you know the Mayorz Marathon is coming soon and I know you are all out working hard to get ready for it.

Today I would like to stress the impawtance of drinking plenty of fluids during your workouts. There are many ways to do this.

I am too short for this method, but I am told by other pals that it does work. Please be careful not to fall in.

With this method, you can get fresh water from home and have your trainer carry the bottle for when you need it.

 

I can tell your from experience that puddles(not Puddles) can be quite delicious. Be careful to sniff first to check for strange odors. My Mom does not approve of this, but I have a hard time passing one up.

These outdoor free water stations are nice also, but again, I am short so it works better for a larger pal.

I know these are often used for beer, but if you can find one that fits, water can be used and you will have it with you whenever you need it.

 I am sure you can come up with other ideas on your own, but the point remains, drink lots of fluids while training.

My sweet BFF and Pal Ruby will encourage another kind of liquid, but I recommend this after training. I can tell you from experience that you won't get much done after a few of these.

Here I am after a night of drinking with Ruby, so I suggest water for training, Rubyritas after training is done.

"Seriously Ruby, what was in that drink???"
