Sasha's Friday Diary

Hello my friends and welcome to another Friday. As we embark on another weekend, I have some news and information I feel the need to share with you. First Petfinder.com http://m.petfinder.com/ is a site that is near and dear to my heart. My Mom found me there and I found my forever home. They send us newsletters and we would like to share some of the information with you.

Not all of our pet friends out there are easily finding homes. To help with this there is a special day coming in August:

:
A "SPECIAL" DAY Big black dogs. FIV+ cats. Senior pets. Special needs pets. Many factors can make a pet seem "less adoptable." To promote these animals, Petfinder has designated August 12 as "Adopt-a-Less-Adoptable-Pet Day."

Mom and I like this, so even if you are not interested in adopting right now, maybe you can pass this on to a friend or just have really good thoughts and paws crossed that these special pets find homes. We all need a home as you my friends well know.

Angels walk among us. You won't have any doubt when you read Opie's story. First, a good Samaritan rescued him on a cold January night, then Debby at Short N Sweet Dog Rescue nursed him to health, and finally Lori adopted him, a dog that wouldn't win any beauty contests. They all saw beyond that to his beautiful soul. Another angel is Betty, who adopted a blind Dachshund, Phoebe. We honor everyone who adopts a homeless pet, but special thanks to those of you who open your hearts to "less-adoptable" ones.

And this is kind of cool:

Do You Have a Happy Tail?Send us your Petfinder pet's happy ending story. It will be entered in our monthly Happy Tail drawing, and you may win a Man's Best Friend Fun Pack and a baseball cap from our friends at The Animal Rescue Site.

Check this out, you can go and vote for your favorite rescue site and that site could win some money to help other dogs.
Yorkshire Terrier/Maltese/ Petrealtorz now RetroDoggyRescue, this is the group that found me and we vote for them every day.

Keep voting daily for your favorite group in The Animal Rescue Site $100,000 Shelter+ Challenge! Voting ends July 26.

Have a good weekend everyone!!

Love and licks and sniffs, Sasha

Hello Sashy,

You know my story, and I wouldn't want to mention it anymore. I am so touched and grateful to you and your Mom's advocacy.

Sasha,
How nice to help out the orphan cats. I have two cat cousins who used to be orphans but now they live with my brother. I haven't met them, but I hear they are very nice pals.

Hi Sasha
you are doing a great job there reminding everyone just how important pet adoption is. It is the same over here in the UK where people keep buying puppies but there are loads of great dogs needing home. Of course this applies to kitty cats, hamsters etc too.
We say look at you - and look at us! Who could ever have better pets!!!
Someone said to our mum the other day that they would never rescue "cos they don't know what they would be getting!" Sometimes humans are pretty dumb!
We have also been meaning to say we love your blog background!
love and kisses

Hi there Sasha!
Thanks for visiting me! I really like your blog and I think you're one cool pup :-)
I hope your mom can put up the video clip of you brushing your own pearly whites; that'd really be something to see!
Your new pal,
Sedona

Hi Sasha,

I love this post. We need more people involved in adopting special needs animals. Droh has had 5 blind pups in our program just in the time Mommy has been invloved, 4 years. They all found happy & loving homes. That says a lot me thinks. Someday when Mommy.

We love you so much!!! {{{huggies}}}...Mona

I wish more people would shop for pets through the shelters and rescue organizations. Any breed they want can be found. When I went looking for my 2nd dobe, a friend working with a rescue found the perfect guy for me. I had to drive to Indianapolis Animal Shelter, which was quite a distance, but well worth it. Gunner was a wonderful pet and I miss him dearly. RIP Gunner.

Sadie was headed to the pound the day we found her. Her owner couldn't keep her any longer. (sad story) We heard about her through a friend.

Our older cats were abandoned strays. (Momma provided us with a whole new generation before we could get her to the vet!)

Maggie Mae was sort of a rescue case when I first got her. So was one of our goats.

I've had many pets over the years that came from shelters and the streets. All of them were great family members.
