I saved my family from a creature of the night!!

Hi my pals. I am weak, I tried to hold out but Mommy and the flashy beast won. I admit defeat.
She tricked me with cheese. I can only take so much!!! Cheese has a control over me, I always yield to it. The flashy beast wins.

I was out doing my nightly patrol for danger in my very scary front yard. Are they nuts or what?

Wait, I hear something. What is that over there?? It is gross and scary looking and it smells bad.

A cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On my property, go away you varmint from hell. I apologize to my cat friends in blog land. Mommy and Big Sis both have terrible allergies to cats so it is my job to rid the property of them. Don't you dare hiss at me. Oops ok the cat is hissing, umm...maybe we should go inside and watch it from in there. Ok you cat thing I will be watching you. Can you see me I am giving you the Sashy stink eye.

Sasha's News Report and a contest for tongues

Hi my pals, its me Sashy guarding my toys from the thieves that are coming to take our candy. This is an older photo of me, so I haven't yet given in on the flashy beast protest. Mommy and I agreed to using an older photo for now. I think I almost have her broken down to my demands. We are all lucky pets that have found forever homes. There are lots and lots of other pets out there(I can't stand to think about it) that don't have homes and may be in danger. Mommy came across this article and thought it was important, so we are posting it. It is hard to think that these horrible things are being done, but we need to know, so we can try to put an end to it.

Solidarity with Martha and Bailey and Awards and Stuff

Martha and Bailey are staging a protest on the flashy beast. As a dog, I feel I must join them in this. We need better wages for the torment we go through by the flashy beast. More treat is all I am asking. I want to be rewarded for each session, that's all. It is fair, I bring my family so much entertainment, a reward is in order. So this is how I will be posing until my demands are met. Thank you for your support.

I just hope Mommy doesn't get mad and stop giving me treats and making me homemade cookies. I hope I can hold out. I love you Martha and Bailey.

Halloween is almost here

Hello my pals. It is a very spooky time of year. Halloween is almost here. The horror of it, there will be creatures ringing my doorbell and walking in my yard and the worst part is...Mommy does nothing to stop them. NO, not only that but she gives away candy and food that could and should be for me. I get chills up my doggy spine just thinking about it. First I must hide my favorite toys lest they get in and try to take them. I will put my favorite hot dog squeaky in my tunnel. Do you think it will be safe there? Please my friends, gather up your toys, before it is too late.

Oh dear I hear noises, are they coming already. Could my house be gulp...haunted? Magic bubble, please get ready I might need you very soon. There is a strange smell in here and and my family is acting strange(well stranger than usual). Why must Halloween be so spooky? Just give me the treats and forget all the other nonsense. What is that coming up the stairs and looking at me????

Aaaaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Whew, I am ok, it was just a jack-o-lantern which smells strange to me. I must go and finish hiding my toys and also find a hiding place cause Mommy found a new costume for me. Now that is the scariest part of all.

Sashy's College Football Friday!!!

Hi my pals! I hope you are all having a good week. It is cold and rainy here in Michigan today, so I am staying in pretty much. I am guarding my house from the inside, watching out the window for intruders, especially furry rodent kind. The past 2 Saturdays have not been good for the Wisconsin Badgers so I am relieved to tell you that they don't play this weekend and will return next Saturday to face Purdue at home. I am making a tailgate post anyway cause Daddy still watches football all day so we may as well party!

Mommy has been going to the farmers market a lot lately and bringing home healthy looking stuff like this.

Here is even a bigger picture. Blechhhhhhhh!! Veggies!!

Somehow though, Mommy cooks these all together into something called soup. I like soup, Mommy mixes it with my food, so I guess she can keep going to the farmers market(without me sniff) as long as she makes me good stuff to eat.

Here is the menu Mommy and I worked on:

1. Assorted cheese and crackers(always there must be cheese)

2. Homemade minestrone soup

3. Grilled cheese sandwiches

4. Homemade applesauce(Mommy makes the best applesauce)

5. Homemade apple cake(recipe follows

Apple Cake

~~~~~~~~
1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (divided use)
1 cup granulated sugar or Splenda® granulated sugar substitution
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda

1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups all-purpose white flour
2 cups apples, peeled and chopped

Cream the 1/2 cup butter with 1 cup sugar and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon together. Alternate the sour cream with the flour mixture until it is all blended in, then stir in the apples by hand. Pour into a greased 9x13 inch pan.

Topping:

Mix together 2 TBSP soft butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon and crumble over the top of the cake.

Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes

Yes, skunks -- as in black and white, Pepé Le Pew, back-off-or-I'm-going-to-spray-you-with-fumes-so-noxious-it'll-make-your-head-spin skunks. But Cipriani will tell you that skunks come in a wide array of colors, not just black and white, and that keeping them as pets is no different than having a cat or dog to love. Every morning, Cipriani rises at 6 a.m. to feed her pet skunks before leaving for work. "I have an office job that supports my skunk habit," she jokes. Cipriani politely declines to reveal exactly how many skunks she currently has, but will say that she has 40 to 50 litter boxes strewn around her house that she cleans twice a day. It takes close to an hour to feed each of her skunks a breakfast of 1/3 to 1/4 cup of frozen vegetables and their supplements. At night she feeds them holistic dog food mixed with an array of fresh vegetables, fruit, chicken, yogurt, cottage cheese or cereal. "Between the food and the supplements, it costs about $600 a month," Cipriani tells PEOPLEPets.com. "You have to feed skunks the right diet, including calcium, or else they'll lose bone density and start crawling."

p.s. Mommy is feeling a little "under the weather" so she won't be doing my tailgate recipe post this weekend. I think"under the weather" means that she keeps running to the potty and staying in there forever and I don't want to be"under the weather". I will take care of her that is if she ever comes out .

A Spooky Halloween

I didn't start blogging until this last Spring. I thought I would show you, my pals what my house looked like last Halloween. I have told you before that my Mommy and big Sis are nutty about Halloween. They have begun this years decorating and when its done I will show it to you. For now I will start with Halloween 2008. First of all, can you believe this costume?? It is one of a few they force and I do mean force me into. I am an elf(OMD how sad is that). BOL BOL BOL, no costumes! Do I look happy?? With my natural cuteness I don't need a costume, do I?? Here is a close up of the graveyard I have to see every time I go potty. I have left my pee-mail on many of them, it makes them less scary.

In the back round is my favorite lookout window, that is blocked as you can see for this display.

Yucky! I left pee-mail on him a couple of times, now he doesn't even try to scare me. That will teach you, Mr. Scary head guy!
Not quite so scary in the day time.

Mommy got a machiny thingy that makes it all smoky and hard to see out there. It is a good time for me to leave little "surprises" on the ground for the trick or treaters to take home on their shoes(giggle).

Wisconsin lost to Ohio State. Brutus, if I wore a hat I would take it off to you. Congratulations my pal. My Daddy said words today that I have never heard before. Mommy took me outside with big Sis to decorate for Halloween, even she couldn't stand it. We will show you pictures of our decorations soon. The best I could make out Daddy kept saying *#@&!! and then @!#%* and also @**((%$, he said that one a lot. I am glad it is over now.

Please don't tell me there are any more football games on next week to worry about. What did you say Mommy, yes there are and every week for a while. Oh no #%@!!. SASHA!!! What Daddy says that all the time during football. I am in trouble I better go before I am grounded again.

Sashy's College Football Friday!!!

Hi to my pals and welcome to another college football Friday with Sasha. Wisconsin has won all their games so far this season. This Saturday we are facing the Ohio Buckeyes. I got to thinking what is a buckeye?? Well I googled it and this will explain a lot:The tree species Aesculus glabra is commonly known as Ohio buckeye, American buckeye, or fetid buckeye. It derives its unflattering common name from the disagreeable odor generated from the flowers, crushed leaves, broken twigs, or bruised bark .
"A small, shiny, dark brown nut with a light tan patch that comes from the official state tree of Ohio, the buckeye tree." I hope Wisconsin does its best to beat them. I do hope it is a good game for all.

The menu for this week always begins with a cheese platter. Can you believe how she is teasing me with this, so close to my very hungry tummy? I did get a piece after the picture. 1. Cheese platter

2. Tossed salad with crushed nuts.

3. Homemade pizza(Mommy makes the best pizza and she even makes one just for me, with toppings I can have)

4. Fresh berry salad

I hope you all have a good weekend. Brutus is from Ohio and we tease each other back and forth about our football teams. It is all in good fun. We love each other. I think Brutus was even named after that silly looking mascot Ohio State has, my Daddy calls it the pregnant acorn. This is our weekend Brutus. Whatever happens I love you. In Wisconsin there is a saying" We may not always win the game, but we always win the party". I hope you all have fun tailgate parties.
