At the movies with Sasha

Hi my pals and how are you?? Well the weather has been pretty cold and we have some snow, so mainly we are all staying in and catching some movies. I would like to start my movie review column and invite you to comment as well. Personally I don't always like movie time, cause I get ignored a lot. There are exceptions however if there is a doggy in the movie.

Here is my first review"Disney's Lady and the Tramp "

My first review is an old favorite:

This is a delightful movie full with doggy barks and cries and even some nasty cat yowls. Tramp is a boy from shall we say the other side of the tracks while Lady is pampered and loved. Now I fell asleep in parts but mainly Tramp wants Lady. Lady finds out that Tramp is a lady's man and had lots of other girlfriends. Now which of us would put up with that?? I would I say cause Tramp is a fine looking doggy, he makes me feel funny and I get all hot and woozy. Well skip to the chase a bunch of stuff happens but in the end, love triumphs and Lady and the Tramp get married and have puppies( I figured they get married right?) Oh that lucky Lady, sleeping next to that every night yoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowza. They have some cool friends and everyone is happy in the end(especially Lady).

Here is my rating system

Barks: lots and lots

Whiny cries: pretty many

Oohs and ahs and teary reaction: big time, my Mom actually cries in parts

Dogs in movie: pretty many, more than I can count

Good looking foodables: lots, can you say spaghetti

My overall rating is 5 paws out of 5 paws

I recommend this movie to everyone except cats, especially siamese cats(who don't need to get any ideas).

Ok my pals, here is my question for you today. When foodables hit the ground, they belong to us right?? Well during the holiday festivities Mom had just pulled the outside off of this nice big ball looking thing(pay no attention to the disgusting feet in backround and focus on the Sashy please). I came up and jumped on her and whoops the ball drops. Thinking that it is a ball(that smelled really good) of course I grabbed it. Well Mom had a fit and called me a thief!! Now who does that ball belong to??? Me, the Sashers of course, right??? Back off this is my naked ball with no cover on it. BOL BOL BOL Ok my pals, now what the heck do I do with this thing? It is gooshy and oooozy and tastes funky, not like my other balls.

Umm Mom I changed my mind, you can have this back now, its all yours, enjoy. What do you mean you don't want it now?? Some people are never happy.

Hi my pals and Happy Monday. I have a question to ask you. Did you ever have a day when you just can't get moving and you just want to sleep?? Well that is today for me, I can't seem to wake up and am looking for a comfortable spot where no one will bug me(Mom) so I can sleep.

Here I am in the family room on a nice soft pillow on the couch. Oh no, I hear her coming, no, no not the vaccuum!! Come on Mom!!!

Ok, here is my favorite pillow, I have had it forever and it smells and feels just right. I will have sweet dreams here. THE DOORBELL, I must go see, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, yip, yowl. Darn you people, I need my sleep now go away!!!

When all is said and done there is nothing like my bed and favorite Christmas toy. Now I must get some rest after all that work. Sleep well my pals and don't let the Mommys bug you!

Hi my pals, its me Sasha, I hope some of you still remember me. I have been away for so long and I miss all of you sooooooooooooooo very much. Do you remember me??? Mom made a New Years resolution to start up my blog again and I am making her stick to it! I put my paw down, my bags were packed. I was ready to get in my magic bubble and go live with Tweedles(if she would have me), but Mommy gave in and here I am. Look here is one of my Christmas toys, a squeaky skate. I love it, it makes great sounds that drive everyone crazy, when I do it constantly.
I am going to sleep now and am going to dream of things to share with all of you. I hope you are all well and will be my pals again. I am hoping with all the hope I have until I can't hope any more. Sweet dreams my pals, and I will see you soon.

Sad news about Grandma and happy news about Dad

My Mommy is away and I am so sad. She just wants you all to know somethings so I am letting her use my blog and waiting for her to come home.

Hi everyone and everypet, this is Anne, my Mom passed away on Monday morning. She was 92 and in poor health. I know she is in a better place and she had a very good and full life. On Sunday evening, my husband, who is on kidney dialysis got a call from the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, where he was on a waiting list. They had not just one but 2 kidneys for him!!! We got the call at 8 p.m. and were in the car by 9. We got to Madison at 4 a.m.(we live in Michigan). The transplant took place at 7:30 a.m. and both kidneys are functioning very well. The doctors are amazed at how well he is doing. I am writing this on Thursday and he might be going home(to Michigan) Saturday or Sunday. I think that is incredible. It is so amazing how life works. The morning my Mom passed away, his new life began. Sashy is home with my daughter and doing fine. I miss them both something awful. We will be home soon. I just wanted to share the happy news.

She is 92,( I don't even know what that would be in doggy years) and in the hospital. Mommy said a priest came and gave her a special blessing so she can go to Jesus now. We will be away for a while, but not as long as last time. I love you my pals and The Power of the Paw to all of you.

Hi my pals and good day to you all. Mommy had a busy week and hasn't been able to make me a post. We are both sorry(especially Mommy). I am having a sleepy lazy day today. You might note on the picture of me how pink my skin is, well it has always been that way, the vetlady says that is just me. Right after a haircut it just looks more pink than ever. That is why I say NO HAIRCUTS, they are evil!

Hi my pals and good day to you. We have some friends out in blog world that need some extra love right now. I know they are friends to all of us, and you can never get enough love, I always say. Poor Mercy over at Corgi Country http://countrycorgis.blogspot.com/ got a bad bite from a very sassy spider and has had a nose booboo for 2 weeks now. It is getting better, but poor Mercy has to get her booboo cleaned every day and has junk put on it and I bet she is tired of it. Mercy is beautiful and so loved by her family and I know she will be all better soon.

Hi my pals and good day to you. I was having a nice relaxing day, chilling, sleeping, snuggling with my Dad while he watches football and then...Mom pulls out the Halloween stuff. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I hate costumes. The horror of getting it on, the humilation of my friends seeing me like this. Oh dear, here are some past nightmares so you can see what I am talking about.

I don't even know what this is supposed to be, do you?
Ok as you can see, I have a bribe on the floor for the year I was a crossing guard in a rain slicker.

Here is last years humiliation, a princess, I know I am a princess, I don't need a stupid costume to show that.

Look at this years model, I mean who dresses as a reindeer for Halloween I ask you, what is Halloween about that????? Seriously my friends, my Mommy has really gone off her rocker this year. I AM MANGO!

Hi my pals and good day to you. I feel it is time for me to tell you something I have never shared before.

Ever since I can remember I have known that I am really a big dog trapped in a little dogs body. I have kept this secret and hidden, but since I met my pal Mango I feel it is time for me to RUN WITH THE BIG DOGS. This is my destiny and even though I spend my life in this little body, I know who I really am. The little body does have some advantages, its easier to snuggle with my Mommy and Daddy(when I let them), I can hide easier when its bath time or time to go to the vet lady. Mango, I join you in spirit and together we play bitey face and chase Dexter (even though your poop is probably bigger than me) we are the same you and I.

When I walk outside, the sidewalks break because I AM MANGO!

Even the tiniest ant is intimidated by me, take that you ant I AM MANGO!

My bed isn't purple but it some purple on it. I am also a Momma's girl and believe it or not I can toot with the big dogs. I have been known to clear rooms. Mostly SBD, but those can be the worst. Hi my pals and good day to you all. I hope things are going well for all of you out there in blogland. Today I would like to go back just a bit to my last Thanksgiving. As you might know we were not together due to computer issues and Mommy issues(yes you Mommy). I thought I would share my Thanksgiving with you since I remember it so fondly, although it was quite a long time ago or at least it seems that way to me.
Ok first look at the cherry pie my sister made, can you stand it??? She can bake and she is an artist so always decorates pies with edible food color.They make great gifts, but I hate when she gives them away.

On to the good stuff, look at my plate. I even get a Christmas plate of my own! I finished the turkey and am moving on to stuffing and mashed potatoes. Don't worry I saved room for pie.Well my pals, I think this face says it all. Can you see the gravy dripping off my chin(snickers)? What a day, I hope you enjoyed sharing it with me again. I am off to look for something to eat now and take a long nap. I love you my pals

Another nightmare haircut. WHY??

Hi my pals and good day to you all. I want to ask you seriously, what is wrong with letting my hair grow out? I like the crazy unkempt look, its me! Look at this picture, did I really need another haircut? I ask you??

Ok Mommy takes me to the vet lady(she is the only one who will do it... snickers)and I have to spend hours and hours and days and days of my life there away from my Mommy. If thats not bad enough, they always stick me in this ridiculous shirt and then go all oooo and aaaaa doesn't she look sweet. Well of course I do but I do need a stupid shirt to prove it.

Don't worry it didn't take me long to get it off, here I am 5 minutes after I finally got home,
and then another minute or two and then I shook and shook that shirt and hid it. Mommy is still looking for it hehe.

I am very stressed so I am going to rest and do a little meditating. Here I am dreaming about getting into my magic bubble and visiting my pal Tweedles. I feel better already.

Welcome to my first 2010 Football Saturday Report!!

Hi my pals, its me Sasha! I hope you are doing good and having a great Saturday. The Weather is perfect here, cool and windy. I am snugging with my Dad and catching up on college football.

Wow the Big Ten has gone kafloooey. We have a new team and I would like to give a great big Wisconsin Big Ten Welcome to Nebraska!!!!! But wait the Big Ten has twelve teams?? I don't get it. I wish when I got treats that my Mommy would say here are 10 treats but really there would be 12, that would be cool. Oh well anyway, the teams are now divided like this: Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Penn State and Ohio State( notice I put them last Brutus, snickering) will be one division and Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern will be the other division. Wow that is crazy, but fun!!!!!

As far as the tailgate party goes, well Mommy is on a special all liquid diet for a while, so Daddy and I are making do with our own snacks. Lots of cheese(duh) and Daddy will make us some burgers later on. I hope you all have a great football and Labor Day weekend. God bless you all and ON WISCONSIN!!!

Hi my old pals, I have been away for quite some time. Mommy has not been herself, but she is getting better so we are back and want to know if you still remember Sassy Sasha. I'm grounded for life I think!

I was just being curious, that is my defense. I am sitting by the back door watching for squirrels. Mommy has let me out on the deck before and I always come right back in with her. She went out to do put a cover on our outside stove cooker griller thing and I decided it was time for me to explore the lay of the land. I wanted to see the backyard on my own, I am a big girl now.

Come on Mommy please let me out, I won't do anything sassy (giggles and paws crossed behind my back) Just open the door and you will see how good I am.

As soon as she opened the door, down the stairs I went. Our backyard leads to something called a 'marsh" I don't know what that is except that it is wet back there. I decided to run like the wind to the front yard. Mommy had to run to try to catch me and with her bad back, she couldn't run too fast. By the time she caught up to me I was in the road in front of our house barking at some kids on skate boards telling them to knock it off. Mommy caught me there. Why was she so mad at me?? I was just being curious. Now I can't go out by myself at all and I am grounded, so no parties for me for a while. I will try to change her mind, cause turkey day is coming and I don't want to be in trouble for that. Can you talk to her??

Please???? I am not exactly sure what grounded is, but I know she is pretty mad at me and I don't like that at all.

Sasha really scared me when she ran off and especially when I found her in the road. I know better then to ever let her out there without a leash again, but in the past she has been very good and stayed with me on our deck. Lesson learned and don't worry she is still getting plenty of treats.

Hi my pals. When I had my recent trip(nightmare) to see the Vet Lady, Mom found this article. Some of you may already know about this. You can never be too careful with us pets. The Vet Lady said it would be ok to give me a baby aspirin(81mg) if I needed cause my paw was infected.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) is a pain killer and anti-fever medication commonly taken by people for minor aches and pains, fever, and soreness from arthritis. It is also a common ingredient in many children’s cough and flu medications. Because it is so regularly used in humans, most people believe that it is safe for their pet. This is incorrect.

Tylenol is extremely toxic in cats, and can be toxic to dogs as well. Cats are more frequently affected because they lack an enzyme pathway that functions to metabolize the drug properly. As little as ½ tablet of Tylenol can be fatal in cats, and although a higher dose is usually required to be toxic to dogs, many can get severely ill with a low dose. Tylenol causes damage to the liver as well as to the blood cells in both species, and clinical signs can include depression, rapid breathing, dark colored gums, swelling of the face, paws, and limbs, vomiting, drooling and death.
The safest way to avoid potential fatal reactions from Tylenol is to NEVER give it to your pet, even in very small amounts. Keep all bottles of Tylenol or other acetaminophen containing products in a securely closed cupboard or medicine cabinet to avoid spillage. If you think your pet is in pain, contact your veterinarian before giving any pain medications at home. It could save your pets life! "

Mushrooms
Can contain toxins, which may affect multiple systems in the body, cause shock, and result in death.

Macadamia nuts
Contain an unknown toxin, which can affect the digestive and nervous systems and muscle.

Chocolate, coffee, tea, and other caffeine
Contain caffeine, theobromine, or theophylline, which can be toxic and affect the heart and nervous systems.

Taking care of my Daddy

Hi my pals. It was kind of boring around here this weekend. My Daddy was sick and of course I was on duty to take care of him. He didn't feel like playing with me.

Here I am making sure that he stays calm and rests while he was watching football on Saturday
"Stay down Daddy, I am here to take care of you. Do you think Mommy could bring us some get well cookies?"" What Daddy, you don't feel like cookies?"Thats ok, I will be happy to eat them for you."

It is a very hard job taking care of sick peoples. I can't wait until Daddy can play with me again. He plays the best games with me. I love my Daddy.

I hope you all had a nice weekend. I am getting very excited for Thanksgiving. It is my favorite meal of the whole year. What is your favorite food on Thanksgiving?? Mine is mashed potatoes...yummm. The Wisconsin Badgers beat Michigan!! Congratulations to Brutus and the Ohio Buckeyes for their great victory!

Hi my pals. I am trying to go to sleep and I am thinking about the things I might dream about. Sometimes I have bad puppy dreams and make woofy sounds and kick my legs(Mommy says). I am feeling a little dazed here after my Vet Lady ordeal, but even still I agreed to pose for a photo. Well Mommy was holding a piece of cheese out, so that was my focal point.

The Vet Lady said it was a reaction to the shots and also the infection in my system. Well if the shots were gonna make me sick, why did she give em to me?? I don't know about that shot thing anymore. I am better and back to my old sassy self. Here I am feeling down still. Pay no attention to the back round. I am in a room that is being fixed up and changed and all that.
I am trying to gather enough strength to play with my favorite squeaky hot dog.

After that I went back to sleep. For the rest of this post I am going to show you a nice walky I took with my Big Sis before the dreaded haircut and "shots". The first one is a picture of the house where the meanest dog alive lives. Her name is Bridget. I would have Big Sis take a picture of her, but I am afraid the camera would explode with her ugliness and melt and dissolve.

Ok, back home. I need to go in and check on Mommy. I can't stand to be away from her for very long. She needs me.

Hi my pals, well I survived the Vet Lady just barely. Look what she did to me. I am naked, how embarrassing. I am also freezing and I just don't feel right tonight. Since I am also very tired I am adding a few jokes that my Uncle Dennis sent me. I hope they make you smile. Have a good weekend everydog and everyone.

Sasha has been a little under the weather since she got back from the Vet. She did get 2 shots and she has a little infection in the pads of her feet where some hair was matted. She is very quiet, but she is eating and drinking. I am hoping she will be back to normal tomorrow or I will call the Vet back. Please have some good thoughts for her. Thanks Anne

Hi my pals, I have found my hiding spot, but I am laying low and acting all normal until tomorrow night. It is best to say away from a flink of cows(too big to play with) and skunks in general and I don't think I want to get close enough to a horse to count its teeth. It would be nice if they could figure out why sharks don't get cancer and there a lot of kangaroos out there. But the most important thing of all is DON'T BUY PURINA DOG FOOD, nobody should be encouraging cockfighting I don't care where you live! I hope you can impress your pals with this trivia Wednesday.

Mommy used some very bad words. She said I need a" haircut." I heard her talking to the Vet lady and I know she used the word "shots". I don't remember what that is, but I know it makes me feel funny inside when I hear it, so it can't be good. On Friday, I am going for a nail trim, "shots" and a hair cut, or so she thinks(he-he). I have other plans. Shhhhhhhhhh. Don't worry I have found a good hiding place, I will be fine. What?" Oh no Mommy I am not on the puter right now, go back to watching cooking shows." I look just fine, don't I ??? Even kind of cute and precious???

Well if you agree please tell Mommy, maybe she will change her mind. PLEASE!! I know Bilbo is on my side.

Happy Halloween my pals and pals Humans!! Here is how we celebrate, first a little pumpkin display before the big one gets carved.
Here I am posing with my costume. Mommy tricked me and sewed it on to my collar. That way I won't complain because I love going outside, even if it means wearing a costume. I am a princess.

This is my Halloween necklace. I don't mind wearing this one.

Mommy was trying to take pictures of me and I kept moving(giggle) so she couldn't hold the camera and me and ended up getting way too close.
Look at the treats Mommy made for the neighbors, they are soooooooooo yummy. I got to taste a few.

A little better on this one. That mess next to me is where we had some work done on the house and they haven't fixed this yet.

Ok, time for supper, you can take the stupid thing off now. Hello I am hungry.

I saved my family from a creature of the night!!

Hi my pals. I am weak, I tried to hold out but Mommy and the flashy beast won. I admit defeat.
She tricked me with cheese. I can only take so much!!! Cheese has a control over me, I always yield to it. The flashy beast wins.

I was out doing my nightly patrol for danger in my very scary front yard. Are they nuts or what?

Wait, I hear something. What is that over there?? It is gross and scary looking and it smells bad.

A cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On my property, go away you varmint from hell. I apologize to my cat friends in blog land. Mommy and Big Sis both have terrible allergies to cats so it is my job to rid the property of them. Don't you dare hiss at me. Hi my pals, its me Sashy guarding my toys from the thieves that are coming to take our candy. This is an older photo of me, so I haven't yet given in on the flashy beast protest. Mommy and I agreed to using an older photo for now. I think I almost have her broken down to my demands. We are all lucky pets that have found forever homes. There are lots and lots of other pets out there(I can't stand to think about it) that don't have homes and may be in danger. Mommy came across this article and thought it was important, so we are posting it. Halloween is almost here

Hello my pals. It is a very spooky time of year. Halloween is almost here. The horror of it, there will be creatures ringing my doorbell and walking in my yard and the worst part is...Mommy does nothing to stop them. NO, not only that but she gives away candy and food that could and should be for me. I get chills up my doggy spine just thinking about it. First I must hide my favorite toys lest they get in and try to take them. I will put my favorite hot dog squeaky in my tunnel. Do you think it will be safe there? Please my friends, gather up your toys, before it is too late.

Oh dear I hear noises, are they coming already. Could my house be gulp...haunted? Magic bubble, please get ready I might need you very soon. There is a strange smell in here and and my family is acting strange(well stranger than usual). Why must Halloween be so spooky? Just give me the treats and forget all the other nonsense. What is that coming up the stairs and looking at me????

Aaaaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Whew, I am ok, it was just a jack-o-lantern which smells strange to me. I must go and finish hiding my toys and also find a hiding place cause Mommy found a new costume for me. Now that is the scariest part of all.

Sashy's College Football Friday!!!

Hi my pals! I hope you are all having a good week. It is cold and rainy here in Michigan today, so I am staying in pretty much. I am guarding my house from the inside, watching out the window for intruders, especially furry rodent kind. The past 2 Saturdays have not been good for the Wisconsin Badgers so I am relieved to tell you that they don't play this weekend and will return next Saturday to face Purdue at home. I am making a tailgate post anyway cause Daddy still watches football all day so we may as well party!

Mommy has been going to the farmers market a lot lately and bringing home healthy looking stuff like this.

Here is even a bigger picture. Blechhhhhhhh!! Veggies!!

Somehow though, Mommy cooks these all together into something called soup. I like soup, Mommy mixes it with my food, so I guess she can keep going to the farmers market(without me sniff) as long as she makes me good stuff to eat.

Here is the menu Mommy and I worked on:

1. Assorted cheese and crackers(always there must be cheese)

2. Homemade minestrone soup

3. Grilled cheese sandwiches

4. Homemade applesauce(Mommy makes the best applesauce)

5. Homemade apple cake(recipe follows

Apple Cake

~~~~~~~~
1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (divided use)
1 cup granulated sugar or Splenda® granulated sugar substitution
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda

1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups all-purpose white flour
2 cups apples, peeled and chopped

Cream the 1/2 cup butter with 1 cup sugar and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon together. Alternate the sour cream with the flour mixture until it is all blended in, then stir in the apples by hand. Pour into a greased 9x13 inch pan.

Topping:

Mix together 2 TBSP soft butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon and crumble over the top of the cake.

Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes

But Cipriani will tell you that skunks come in a wide array of colors, not just black and white, and that keeping them as pets is no different than having a cat or dog to love. Every morning, Cipriani rises at 6 a.m. to feed her pet skunks before leaving for work. "I have an office job that supports my skunk habit," she jokes. Cipriani politely declines to reveal exactly how many skunks she currently has, but will say that she has 40 to 50 litter boxes strewn around her house that she cleans twice a day. It takes close to an hour to feed each of her skunks a breakfast of 1/3 to 1/4 cup of frozen vegetables and their supplements. At night she feeds them holistic dog food mixed with an array of fresh vegetables, fruit, chicken, yogurt, cottage cheese or cereal. A Spooky Halloween

I didn't start blogging until this last Spring. I thought I would show you, my pals what my house looked like last Halloween. I have told you before that my Mommy and big Sis are nutty about Halloween. They have begun this years decorating and when its done I will show it to you. For now I will start with Halloween 2008. First of all, can you believe this costume?? It is one of a few they force and I do mean force me into. I am an elf(OMD how sad is that). BOL BOL BOL, no costumes! Do I look happy?? With my natural cuteness I don't need a costume, do I?? Here is a close up of the graveyard I have to see every time I go potty. I have left my pee-mail on many of them, it makes them less scary.

In the back round is my favorite lookout window, that is blocked as you can see for this display.

Yucky! I left pee-mail on him a couple of times, now he doesn't even try to scare me. That will teach you, Mr. Scary head guy!
Not quite so scary in the day time.

Mommy got a machiny thingy that makes it all smoky and hard to see out there. It is a good time for me to leave little "surprises" on the ground for the trick or treaters to take home on their shoes(giggle).

Wisconsin lost to Ohio State. Brutus, if I wore a hat I would take it off to you. Congratulations my pal. My Daddy said words today that I have never heard before. Mommy took me outside with big Sis to decorate for Halloween, even she couldn't stand it. We will show you pictures of our decorations soon. The best I could make out Daddy kept saying *#@&!! and then @!#%* and also @**((%$, he said that one a lot. I am glad it is over now.

Please don't tell me there are any more football games on next week to worry about. What did you say Mommy, yes there are and every week for a while. Oh no #%@!!. SASHA!!! What Daddy says that all the time during football. I am in trouble I better go before I am grounded again.

Sashy's College Football Friday!!!

Hi to my pals and welcome to another college football Friday with Sasha. Wisconsin has won all their games so far this season. This Saturday we are facing the Ohio Buckeyes. I got to thinking what is a buckeye?? Well I googled it and this will explain a lot:The tree species Aesculus glabra is commonly known as Ohio buckeye, American buckeye, or fetid buckeye. It derives its unflattering common name from the disagreeable odor generated from the flowers, crushed leaves, broken twigs, or bruised bark .
"A small, shiny, dark brown nut with a light tan patch that comes from the official state tree of Ohio, the buckeye tree." I hope Wisconsin does its best to beat them. I do hope it is a good game for all.

The menu for this week always begins with a cheese platter. Can you believe how she is teasing me with this, so close to my very hungry tummy? I did get a piece after the picture. 1. Cheese platter

2. Tossed salad with crushed nuts.

3. Homemade pizza(Mommy makes the best pizza and she even makes one just for me, with toppings I can have)

4. Fresh berry salad

5. Homemade peach pie

6. Plenty of nuts for everyone to eat and chew up.
I hope you all have a good weekend. Brutus is from Ohio and we tease each other back and forth about our football teams. It is all in good fun. We love each other. I think Brutus was even named after that silly looking mascot Ohio State has, my Daddy calls it the pregnant acorn. This is our weekend Brutus. Whatever happens I love you. In Wisconsin there is a saying" We may not always win the game, but we always win the party". I hope you all have fun tailgate parties.

Hello to all of my pals. I found this article, well Mommy did actually from the ASPCA and we thought you might find it interesting. I can't stand to think of any of my friends getting sick, but especially to get the piggy sickness. I don't even want to know what would happen. There is a line that Mommy bigified. It says that humans can give it to pigs! Isn't that crazy, I thought they were giving it to us. It turns out we shouldn't be blaming our piggy friends(if you have any) cause it turns out they didn't really make us sick. I hope you all stay healthy.

"1. Can Cats and Dogs Catch Swine Flu?

Pet parents of dogs and cats can relax for now, say ASPCA veterinarians. While the 2009 H1N1 virus—a faster moving and possibly more debilitating strain of influenza than the typical seasonal flu—has become an international concern, the virus, referred to as swine flu when first identified, appears to present little risk of infecting dogs and cats. However, viruses can mutate quickly and taking important preventative measures remains essential.
“Many species can become infected with influenza viruses, but the current 2009 H1N1 virus, which is a mixture of genetic material from different species, has not been identified in animal populations in the United States to date,” says Dr. Miranda Spindel, Director of ASPCA Veterinary Outreach. “These viruses are notoriously unpredictable, though, and it is important that we remain vigilant.”
In terms of other animals who are susceptible, Dr. Spindel warns that influenza or flu viruses are occasionally transmitted from people to pigs, and the 2009 H1N1 virus has also been identified in turkeys. Pet parents of Vietnamese Potbellies, African Pygmies and other pet pigs should monitor their animals' health closely, notify their veterinarian of any signs of illness and speak to their veterinarian about influenza type A vaccines. And ferrets are susceptible to most human flu viruses, so pet parents should take extra care to prevent exposure of pet ferrets to people or other ferrets with flu symptoms.
Meanwhile, flu season is upon us and pet parents should take common-sense preventative measures to keep their dogs and cats healthy:
If your dog is exhibiting flu-like symptoms, including coughing, nasal discharge or fever (normal dog and cat temperature is 101 to 102.5 degrees), play it safe and avoid taking him to places like dog parks, where he can pass on germs or come into contact with unvaccinated or sick dogs.
Avoid letting your cat roam freely outside.
If your dog comes into frequent contact with other dogs or is kept in a kennel, the ASPCA recommends that you discuss with your veterinarian whether vaccination against canine influenza may be appropriate. Note: canine influenza and H1N1 are not the same virus.
Talk to your vet about what flu vaccines are currently available, and be sure all your pets get vaccinated!
Don't let your pet share water bowls, food dishes or toys with other animals.
Make sure your pet is eating, drinking and playing as he normally does each day. If you notice your pet behaving unusually, or if he has flu-like symptoms, check in with your veterinarian immediately. "

Look what I got from my friends Captain and Candy at I need a Sugar fix . They are the cutest little pals anydog could have and I love them. Please go visit them if you haven't already. Tomorrow is my big Sissy's birthday!!

I love my big Sis soooooooooo much. I want to give her a special post for her birthday, so she knows how much I love her. We do so many things together. She takes me to the park. When we are tired we snuggle together( well ok in this one I wasn't so tired but you get the idea)

She lets me drive to Dairy Queen and buys me special puppy cones just for me. Just so you know, I am not actually driving and this was posed. Katy would never let me ride like this while she is driving. She loves me too much.

She takes me for a walk every single day, no matter how tired she is. We get to visit my neighborhood friends. I am looking out for squirrels here.

Here I am watching out the window for her to come home from worky job. Every morning I watch her leave and I try to give her sad face so she comes right back, it never works, she says she needs to earn green papers to get me toys and treats. I can live with that I guess.

The Badgers and the Packers won and the Tigers are getting closer to being the champs. My Mommy sure knows how to throw a party. I wish you could have all joined me. Now I am exhausted. I can barely lift my head. I ate too much cheese and I think it is weighing me down, I can't get up.

Ohhhhhhh, I think I will try to sleep for a while. Mayhaps I will dream about cheese and my friends and I having a party together. Wouldn't that be nice. On second thought I could use a belly rub. I think I will go find my Daddy. He gives the best belly rubs.

Daddy is a sports nut, fanatic and every other word that there is for his addiction. Needless to say he is happy right now. When the Daddy is happy, everyone is happy. At least around here. I love my Daddy, I just wish he didn't yell at the talking box so much. I don't even like the talking box, cause when it talks no one pays attention to me. Sometimes I hear the doorbell ring or someone knocking at the door and I run to check. I hear everyone laughing and saying, silly pup, its just the talking box. I think it is evil. What do you think? Sashy's College Football Friday!!!

Hi to my pals! It is Friday and time to plan another tailgate party for tomorrow. This week is important according to my Daddy, they start conference play(whatever that is). Wisconsin plays Michigan State. Its kind of funny because we live in Michigan, but since Mommy and Daddy came from Wisconsin they still want the Badgers to win. If they want them to win, so do I.

Here is a picture of last weeks cherry pie that Mommy and big Sis made and I got to share it!! It was soooooooo yummy.

Ok on to this weeks menu:

1. Pulled pork sandwiches(this is one of Mommies favorites)

2. Veggies and dip (no green veggies this week cause of Michigan State)

3. Assorted cheeses(duh from Wisconsin) and cocktail breads (the cheese I get to share)

4. Homemade apple-peach sauce(Mommy went to the farmers market for the fruit)

5. Homemade coconut angel food cake with coconut frosting.

That’s why the ASPCA supports H.R. 3501, which would amend U.S. tax code to allow qualifying pet care expenses, including veterinary care, to be tax-deductible. This means that when you prepare your income taxes, money you spent on pet care that year would count as non-taxable income—and you can deduct up to $3,500 per year! Please help us support the HAPPY Act, H.R. 3501.

Football Friday by Sasha

Welcome to another edition of "Football Friday by Sasha". Tomorrow my Wisconsin Badgers play Wofford Terriers. Wofford is in South Carolina and it is a non-conference game. My Daddy and Mommy will be watching it on Big Ten Network. Good luck to all of your teams this Saturday. Go Badgers!!The menu this week for the tailgate is as follows:
1. Cheese and crackers ( again this is a must for a Wisconsin tailgate party)
2. Rueben dip in a rye bread bowl.
3. Chicken wings cooked on the grill with barbecue sauce
4. Grilled corn on the cob
5. Seven layer salad
6. Cherry pie

Recipe for Reuben Dip:
1 cup corned beef, chopped up
1 cup grated swiss cheese
1 cup well drained saur kraut
1/2 cup thousand isle salad dressing.
Mix together well and put into a casserole. Heat in a 350 oven for 30 minutes, or until hot and bubbly. Put into a hollowed out rye bread round. Use the bread you took out cut into pieces for dipping, it also goes well on cocktail rye.

Hello my friends, while I was out taking a walk today I came across a p-mail message from some of my neighborhood friends. I would like to pass it on to you. Sashy's College Football Friday!!!

Hello to all my friends. It is another football Friday. The Wisconsin Badgers will be playing Fresno State tomorrow in a non-conference game at home in historic Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. At our house College football means a lot of yelling and good food. Mommy always makes a tailgate party which always makes my tail wag. Here are some suggestions to pass on to your families for the party.

1. Cheese and crackers, you can never go wrong with this and I always end up getting my share. They are from Wisconsin, no respectable tailgate would go without this.

2. Grilled brats and hot dogs, this is a Wisconsin have to have it food. I usually can mooch some hot dog, if I am lucky. Try to persuade them to make sandwiches, more chance for meat.

3. Jalapeno Popper Dip, I don't care so much for this, it is a little spicy but if you are interested, Mom has the recipe on her comfort food blog.

4. Watermelon, need I say more, there is always room for watermelon.

5. Cookies shaped like Bucky Badger with red and white sprinkles, oh my these are good.

A Fun Game to Play

My new friend Jasmine who happens to be a goat tagged me to play a fun game. I have never met a goat up close, but Jasmine seems really cool. Mommy showed me a video of her talking and singing I think and wow, does she have a voice. Please go visit her and watch her video at

Jasmine's Goat Jargon . She is a beautiful goat.

For the game I need to name 6 things that make me happy. This will be fun.

1. Sleeping anytime but especially with my Mommy. She is the best snuggler.

2. Eating. I do love to eat. I can be somewhat picky at times. I can never say no to cheese.

3. Playing. I have a whole big toy box full of toys. They are all my favorites, but my mostest favorite is my squeaky hot dog and blue elephant and my stuffy mango.

4. Snack time, not to be confused with eating, these are 2 totally different events. I am a big fan of pupperoni and Zen treats.

5. Walky time. My Dad and my sis mostly take me and I love to go, but I am also very excited to come back. I don't like to be away from Mommy for too long.

6. Nap time, not to be confused with sleeping, totally different. Naps are shorter and more frequent.

I don't normally eat glue myself, but I do sometimes chew on furniture and areas that may have glue, so we felt it was good for my pet friends to be informed. Hope you all have a nice Labor Day weekend and get lots of goodies and no tummy aches. Pet Poison Alert: Accidental Ingestion of Wood Glue on the Rise

Our country’s new-found thrift has lead many homeowners to save a penny by tackling do-it-yourself home improvement projects. But take care, pet parents—you may be exposing your furry friends to dangerous tools and tricks of the trade. Polyurethane glue, a water-resistant adhesive and favorite of woodworkers, is highly toxic if ingested by cats and dogs.
According to data from the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC), pet poisonings from wood glues—and other adhesives containing the substance diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI)—are on the rise. In the past 12 months, the APCC handled more than 170 cases of pets who ingested expanding glues. Of those incidents, the majority involved dogs and were evaluated at high or medium risk for developing severe, life-threatening problems.
Polyurethane glue—also known by brand names like Gorilla Glue and Elmer’s Pro-Bond—is prized for its ability to bond to wood. If eaten, however, the glue expands in the stomach’s warm, moist environment and forms a softball-sized lump. A dog who eats even a small amount of MDI-based adhesive can experience severe gastrointestinal problems resulting in blockages and requiring emergency surgery to remove the mass.

Hello my friends. I always had a bad feeling about this new kitchen idea from the start. I am sad to say that I was right. My Mommy got a new sink with a new sprayer thingy(the old one was broken) and to celebrate I get a BATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ask you how is that a way to celebrate. Mommy needs to look that word up in the dictionary. Oh the horror of it all, she kept spraying me and spraying me, I tried to fight, but in the end I am clean. It took me days and weeks to get this good smell on me and its gone, just like that for no reason at all. I think she even held my head under water at one point and I blacked out. Sasha, I did not you take that back!! Oops ok maybe she didn't but she looked like she wanted to. I am defeated and I need a nap.

Mommy is having problems with her back again, so far she had 2 shots in it and it hasn't helped. She hasn't been able to take many pictures so we are using this older one, it was right after one of my horrible haircuts. Mommy is moving a little slow on blogging, but she knows her bloggy friends understand and we will keep up the best we can.

An Award and EyeWatch Friday!!

Look what I got from Martine at I need a Sugar fix . She is my friend and I love her, Martine has new puppies that she rescued, they are so cute and technically I am related to them(Sugar and I were twins, separated at birth), so I am very protective. Please go and visit her. The only rule is to name 5 bloggers who visit at least once a week. Most of my friends visit often(I am a lucky pup) so this will be hard. I will send the love this time to A Wiener Dog Blog aka Twix, she has been under the weather, I hope it cheers her up. Next my pal Jan at Animal Talk who is an animal lover and children's author had someone steal one of her stories(butthead). I hope this will make her smile. Checkers at Checkers The Peek A Poo has been out working hard with his Mom(I hope he is getting lots of yogurt drops) so I think he deserves an award. My Mom is getting the insurance that his Mommy sells for me, it was a good deal and will be nice in case we might need it. Mango at Mango's Great Adventures always makes me feel safe, just knowing that there are Mango doggies makes the world safer for us little dogs(plus he is sooooooo handsome).Finally to one of my best pals ever Tweedles at http://tweedles-georgie.blogspot.com/, Tweedles and I go on many magical adventures together. My battle with the new floor ends!

Lets start with a quick game of "Where's Sasha?" Can you find me in the messy jungle, I used to call home. If you follow my blog(and I hope you do) you may know that our kitchen had a flood and evil men have been coming here every day FOREVER to fix things. When they are here, instead of protecting my Mom, I get locked upstairs in a bedroom. Mommy does come and play with me a lot, but how can I protect her if I am locked up??

Next the potty thing the humans use broke when the men were fixing the floor, so that made a mess and more men had to come and more time locked up!Will my house ever get back to normal?

Well, guess what? I lost the battle of the floor, in spite of my constant objections, crying, barking and whining, somehow a new floor got put in along with a new potty. Next my Daddy was nice enough to surprise my Mommy and took some money from a special account and bought her a new stove and microwave oven. Mommy had the same stove for almost 30 years. One of our friends bought a new house and already had a dishwasher, so they gave Mommy the Maytag dishwasher that came with the house for free and it is almost brand new! Ours was broken.

My Mommy is about the happiest Mommy in the world right now, with her new kitchen, so I guess I will be happy for her too. Especially now that it is all over. The new floor is pretty cool, it feels good on my tummy and I can do good zoomies on it. I just hope nothing else goes wrong, I can't take anymore, and I hope all my toys are going to come back now. I think the evil men might have taken some.

p.s. Mommy doesn't want you to think she is bragging, it has just been a really long time since we have had anything like this done and she is soooooo excited to have a new kitchen. We were kind of lucky that insurance will cover some of the damage.

I have some awards from friends that I would like to share with you. I like awards, I think they are fun and make me feel special. The first 2 didn't have any rules that I could see, and the last one did have a fun rule.

I got this one from my friend and neighbor the very handsome Oskar at The Daily Oskar . Thanks Oskar, us Michiganders have to stick together. I pass this one on to Brutus the Frenchie . Brutus is a handsome boy, who is having a said time in his family right now. I hope this will cheer him up. Well I think we all know that I am not a really good pup. I am a food thief, whenever I get the chance. Don't get me wrong, my family feeds me very well and healthy food. It is just that these silly people leave so much within reach, whats a little angel to do? I have so many stories but I will go with this one. One time last Christmas, Mommy(who is an outstanding baker) was frosting some cookies at the kitchen table. The noisy box made a silly noise and she went to talk into it ( how nuts is that,talking into that little toy box). I jumped up on her chair, nobody said anything, so I assumed the delectable cookie at reach was for me. I ran off, but unfortunately because it was freshly frosted, I left a trail and was caught. I did finish the cooky first though. This one I pass on to my new friend Frodo at Sixteen paws . Frodo is a shih tzu like me and a puppy so I don't know how much food stealing he has done so far, but I would love to read about it.

Pet Pride

Please visit Pet pride for more great pet photos and storiesMom got over to Target and unfortunately they had some pet costume supplies already in the dollar area. Mom loves the dollar area, she can spend forever there I am told.

This is how I choose to wear my princess hat. It is my interpretation and I think it looks better this way.

Now if I could just get it off and hide it somewhere.

My Mom wants me to tell you that I have been a good girl lately and am improving in some areas. When the bad man was here to check on the kitchen progress, I did bark at first, but after Mom made me sit and told me to shush a few times, I did give in and sit quietly next to her. This is progress for me. We have also been playing a game called "targeting" Mommy puts her hand out and calls me, I touch her hand and I get a small treat or a scratch behind the ears(my favorite). Well now when they open the door and I accidently(on purpose) run out without my leash, Mommy just calls me and puts out her hand and for the past 2 weeks, I come right to her or my sis or Dad. I can't go out without my leash in the front because I have this crazy obsession with chasing cars or bikes or anything going past me fast. Mom is afraid to ever let me out without a leash because I might chase and get hurt or worse. I did get out once, when I first came to live here and it was very scary for her. She just wanted me to show you I can be a good girl and not sassy all the time.

Mom has a question for all of you: I want to buy a new camera. We have been relying on my daughters camera phone for a while, but as you know the photos are not as good a quality as they could be. Our other camera died. Do you have any suggestions for a camera brand? I look at your blogs and the photos are so good and clear. I can't afford a huge lot, but I have seen some around $100.00 or just a little more or less is even better. Please let me know what kind of camera you use and what you suggest. Thank you. Anne

I am watching out for "The Scarlet Puppynickel". So far he has only struck schnauzers, but the last known attack was just minutes from my house at my friend Oskars

So since my name is also Sasha and I live so close to Oskar, I am afraid, he will attack me just to throw everyone off his usual pattern. So far he has caused severe damage to other friends, which they in turn probably got blamed for. There is nothing that this fiend will not do to cause mischief.

I am the queen of mischief and sass and no one is going to take that title away from me. I am certainly not going to get blamed for the mischief of another. For now I will keep vigilant watch and hope that he has chosen another victim far from Michigan.

Thursday Thoughts

This has been a very exciting week for me. It started with my friends helping me write a story. It turned out so good, thank you for helping me. Next there was a huge party over at Tanks house. I ate so many cookies and now I am tired. So far my "layout" is working cause we still have the old floor. Yahoo. Mom said something about rotten wood and men coming to fix it next week, but I am not buying it. I am winning and that is that. Ok, Mom and big sis both say my feet look like bunny feet and they call this position "training wheels". I don't think so.

My feet are perfectly fine, thank you.

I am going to play Twix's name game. My story isn't very exciting though. My name was Sasha when my Mom and Dad rescued me and they didn't want to confuse me more so they kept it. My Mom really likes the name anyway. She says it suits me. I do have lot and lots of nicknames.
